My previous GTX470 got raped so bad that I played Metro2033 at 1280x720 just to keep about 35-40FPS on max settings and physx off.
I was thinking GTX 560 SLI or single GTX 580? I'm leaning towards the 560's but I'm thinking 1GB versions aren't good enough for Metro? Either way, I'd just like to play at +50FPS maxed out at 1920x1080, or is my price range not reasonable?

So for Last Night a couple of GTX 590's should do the trick...

FML. Guess I might just pick up a 580 and another when it's out. It might drop a dollar by then.

Some card with A LOT of framebuffer (definitely more than 1GB).
And also opt for SLI as one card will not cut it.

If I max out the settings I still get dips to around 22-25fps. Game is madly system hungry...

4A games set TLR's maximum DX11+Physx detail to 480 SLi performance and you can expect Last Light to do the same with Kepler, hitting bottlenecks on anything less powerful. nVidia are still finding ways to improve SLi performance in Metro 2033, and hopefully Kepler's drivers will also benefit from that.

I'd expect something like 7970 crossfire to be able to max it out. Barely.

I praise 4A for producing such a demanding game to push the gfx cards industry to push more out of their gfx cards and drivers. I also praise them for their PC support tearing us away from god awful console ports and give us the quality PC gamers deserve. Yet another thing is keeping with physx, I wish physx would come out into games like the tech demos from the early days. It really does bring a new level of detail and realism to games, but obviously with Nvidia having a stranglehold on it with no real support for AMD/ATI cards does hold it back.

i would "praise" them if they used physx 3.0, not still the same old crippled pos 2.8.x. :(

    Indeed :(
in topic my guestimate still stands you'll need a pair of 7970s for all the bells and whistles :nerd:

I saw theres a few GTX 580's that have 3GB of VRAM. I might just get two of those.

I'm curious to know if what they said is true and can pull off making 2.8.x more optimized.

It can be multi-threaded, and there are example of this in stress testing software like FluidMark which uses 2.8.4, but Physx 3.x is alot more optimised, especially when it comes to running on the GPU from what i hear.

Completely forgot about that, every time I hear crippled Physx I always think back to it not being well threaded.
