Laptop crashes when booting up Maya

Hi,

I've been trying to install the 11.9 and/or 11.10 Catalyst drivers in order to improve Rage performance and just being up to date. This however comes with some issues.

Whenever i try to start Maya 2012 or 2011 my laptop freezes... does anyone know how this is possible? And if there is anything I can do about it?

I have a Clevo P150HMx with a 6970M.

 

11.10 preview has this opengl crash issue. all opengl program except rage crashes. i have to go to 11.9

 

My laptop also doesn't install the 11.9 driver properly. It is really annoying since Clevo/BTO whatever aren't updating the drivers themselves.

11.9 also crashes my Maya

Last drivers, which doesn't crash with my openGL apps are 11.7.
