GTX560ti vs GTX570? (non-reference designs)

If everything goes well I should be getting an Asus 570 DCUII. Should also do well.

 

yes but its kinda a weak OC'er and needs a lot of voltage, i've seen quite a few reaching only 875-890mhz but with maxed out voltage 1.10v or more..

yes you can change voltage with these DirectCUII in MSI AF ever since 2.2 beta5


well some got lucky and OC'ed beyond 900mhz with lower voltages, but its very rare..

GB SOC or MSI TFIII are better OC'ers.

But DirectCUII is quieter and sometimes cooler, although mine never reached 70C (60% fan) @ 930-960mhz 3dmark 2011, but at 60% its a bit noisy, but nothing scary..

 

Go with Gigabyte 560 ti sli for around 400..Outperforms a single GTx 580.

 

To expensive + I would have to pay 30 euro's more for a different mobo + need a new psu.

 

I can clock my 580s at 900ish if I want the 580s still faster overclocked than 570s. Unless you wan run your 570 950 core clock or higher the 580 will win. The 580 is a better card than a 570. It has 32 more shaders, much higher memory bandwidth, more video ram. And a higher stock clocks out of the box. Not bragging just stating the facts here
You would have to probable oc the 570 to around 820 maybe just to reach 580 performance

 

yes i know 580gtx is faster doh..

But still even if you OC it to lest say a decent 850mhz from stock 770mhz and compare to 570gtx @ 900-930mhz, 570gtx can catch up.
So overall it can be a good rival even when you OC 580gtx a bit, its not just comparable against stock 580gtx.. and that was my whole point.

And that's why i said post a screen at 850-880mhz by 3dmark 2011 and we shall see.:nerd:

wow somebodys real sensitive about their 570, I never said the 570 was a bad card did I? why would I want to run a benchmark at a low 850-880? I bench 900-925ish? if its real cold 930+ in the winter:nerd:

 

im just saying its capable of much more then comparing it to stock 580gtx. Now if that makes me sensitive about it ok lol :stewpid:

haha you started the off topic bs when you highlighted my post with the phrase and oc 580 cant be caught by any video card. if you want to be technical I can run a 580 with a 1mhz oc and a heavily oc 570 will beat it. put similary oc 570, 580 up against each other and the 580 will always be ahead. so lets move on ok ispy?

well my 560ti super overclock just died randomly. whilst that was getting rma'd i ended up buying a gigabyte gtx570 super overclock.

the 570 super overclock is actually a fairly decent card. it has cherry picked GPU to handle 845mhz/1690mhz and it draws less power compared to a standard 570 oc'd to the same level. from some of the reviews ive read, people seem to have no difficulting getting this thing over 950mhz.

its also using the exact same PCB as the gigabyte 580 super overclock with a few minor differences - two less ram modules, no extreme button for the alternate bios, and the cooler is slightly different with one less heatpipe connecting the vapour chamber to the perpendicular heatsink on the right.

it also has the most power phases of any 570 that ive seen. the gigabyte 570 soc has the same 12+2 power phase config of its 580 soc bigger brother (due to same pcb), which is more than the 4+1 reference setup, the 6+1 msi twin frozr PE/OC setup, and the asus 6+2 setup.

the only minor gripe ive got so far is that the voltage seems a little low. does anyone know what the default core voltage for a 570 is? according to msi afterburner, my 570 soc runs 845/1690/3800 with a core voltage of 0.988V (randomly gigabyte's OC guru reads the voltage as higher than msi afterburner), which seems rather low. not too sure if it will cause any stability problems but at least gigabyte let us increase the core and memory voltage.

 

I'd check in 3d but .98 would be low but thats a great card.
i had a two ref. that were around 1.01-1.03

 

ive been checking msi afterburner for load and idle voltage. load voltage is 0.988V for 845/1690/3800 (strange that they left memory clocks untouched), idle voltage is 0.913V for 51/101/135, which seems about right.

havent had much time to stress test it to see how stable with different loads, but i left heaven 2.5 running for 2 hours, it didnt crash, and highest temp was 60C with auto fan speed (ambient temp is 25C according to my barometer), which is pretty awesome considering my 560ti soc hit 72C with the same ambient temp.
