Its about time I built my self a new gaming system the current ones getting a bit long in the tooth. I currently swaying towards the following components; i7 2600k CPU Coolmaster V6Gt Cooler Asus P8P67 Motherboard 8Gb Hyperx pc3 12800c9 DDR3 GTX580 3072mb graphics card Im open to any better recommendations than the above and also could do with input on the following parts too; SSD for OS and main software 1tb Storage HD PSU CASE Been a while since I built a new gaming rig so the input would be a great help.
CPU - In gaming there's almost no difference between i7 2600K and i5 2500K. Get i5 2500k, save almost 100$. MB - Since you're taking SSD, it would be wise to get a Z68 board. Then you can use part of SSD as OS partition and part as HDD cache. SSD - not sure which one's the best now. Crucial M4 has great price/performance ratio. HDD - Caviar Black if you need single fast HDD; Samsung F3, Seagate 7200.12 or Caviar Blue if you need cheaper HDD. You can also consider RAID options. PSU - I'd recommend at least quality 650W if you're not planning to add a second GTX 580 or at least 950W if you're planning to do so. Something like Seasonic X, Corsair TX V2, AX, any XFX PSU, Antec High Current, etc.
+1 on the samsung f3 drive. ssd wise - crucial m4 motherboard - p8z68 vpro cpu- 2500k psu - corsair tx750 (if you dont plan on sli) case - coolermaster 690II advanced cpu cooler - you plan on overclocking? if yes, go for something better.
Had another look over my spec and consider some reccomendations. How does this spec look now ? GeForce GTX 580 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail Asus P8Z68-V PRO Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (CSSD-F120GB3-BK) OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B) Cooler Master Gladiator RC-600 Case - Black Zalman CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/775/1155/1156/1366) Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) Sony Optiarc AD-7280S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
switch the case out, no good. take the coolermaster 690 advanced. dont take the 2600k. its a waste of 100$ that can be better used, stick with the 2500k. dont get that ssd, it still has some firmware issues, go with the crucial m4. its just as fast if not faster and much more stable. that psu is iffy if i remember correctly. go with a corsair tx750 v2 or a seasonic psu of equivalent wattage. that cooler is loud and is easily outclassed. you want something good? get a noctua dh14 or thernalright archon with 2 fans. otherwise, the rest is ok
