about avr and wall mount - noob need help

    i have a noobie question, is it if safe to plug my PC directly to wall, or in a generic AVR (automatic voltage regulator) ? thanks..

    Depends on what your supply is like in your area. Is it a clean AC supply or prone to temporary outages, dips in voltage (brownouts), or complete loss of power (blackouts)?

    If your supply is pretty stable to start with then plugging it into the wall socket will be be OK, but if you have regular power issues in your area then some kind of protection maybe needed like a surge protector or AVR/UPS!!

    UPS is better then just AVR.

    thanks for the replys.. sometimes we do have some power issues, but is it ok to use a generic Avr temporarily?

    Do those power issues mean you lose power regularly? An AVR only regulates the voltage and doesn't provide battery backup, like Gazebo says, a UPS is better than an AVR.

    Or you could get both just to be super safe. Like my set-up which is PSU > UPS > AVR > Wall socket
