No matter if I'm working, browsing, watching a video or playing a game - from time to time, for no apparent reason, everything starts stuttering. But when I open the Video Options tab in CCC, the stuttering goes away and everything goes back to normal. :3eyes: Catalyst 11.6, default 3D settings, everything turned off in Video Options tab, no overclock (and never was). GPU temperature: 45-50 C. Same for all CPU cores. No spikes in CPU usage in Task Manager during the stutter. ...Can't think of anything else of note, at the moment. Any ideas?
watch your gpu core/mem speed to see if it's changing during this time i did have a really weird stutter in windows only once after installing 11.6, but fixed on the next restart
Yep, during the stutters they spike from usual 2D 157/300 to full 3D 850/1200 (GPU-Z). So... what does that mean and how do I fix it?
No such option in my CCC. Even its search function doesn't give any results for 'Power'. CCC is the latest one, that came with the 11.6 'Catalyst Software Suite'.
So, I uninstalled CCC, installed ATI Tray Tools, and am still getting the same random stuttering. During ATT's installation, there was an option related to 'killing PowerPlay', which I checked, but that didn't help, either, apparently.
well something must be running or attempting to trigger 3d speeds... in a game, they stay at full 3d? or do they spike there too
I only play rarely, these days, so haven't caught the stutters in a game since last week. Games' stuttering are actually a minor concern compared to all the other instances. ...Aaand the stutters are still there after updating to Catalyst 11.7. Uninstalled ATT, everything ATI/AMD and cleaned the AMD leftovers with Driver Sweeper 3.1.0 prior to installing the new ones. *sigh* Hmm, I'm not sure, but I often leave the browser running minimized (need it for work and email notifications), and it uses hardware acceleration. I'll try using a different one for a few days, see if anything changes. Other browsers don't have 1/5 the needed features, though, so switching permanently wouldn't be a feasible solution.

i'm pretty sure the new browsers have an option to disable the acceleration, you dont have to change browser (i'm still on FF3.6)
Well, I have F9, latest non-beta. Flashing to betas probably wouldn't be a good idea. And an update on that: - Switching off hardware acceleration made no difference in stutters occurring. - Stutters occurred even without the browser running. So, I guess we can strike that one off the list of suspects. Short of re-flashing the MB BIOS, I'm pretty much out of ideas, right now...

Win7x64, it's in the profile. That's what I've been checking for all these days: - Uninstalled (Total Uninstall + Auslogics Track-, Disk- and Reg cleaners) every background program 1 by 1 and waited for stutters, until there are no such programs left (except CCC.exe and MOM.exe). Stutters remain. - Scanned with antiviruses (Avira, Kaspersky and DrWeb) and anti-malware (Malwarebyte's and Spybot S&D). Nothing. - Yes, one monitor. Right now, it's an old Philips 170S (D-SUB only) attached via DVI->D-SUB adapter.
