Well, the P8P67 Deluxe is still better and it's only 15 bucks more on newegg but if it's above budget then it's above budget I guess. And besides, even though I don't visit Tom's that much anymore these days, here's still something that has caught my attention nevertheless: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...8z68-v-pro-gigabyte-z68x-ud3h-b3,2939-18.html

^ See the link I posted. I was recommending the ASRock Z68 Extreme4, which is $205 AUD at PC Case Gear.

You own an ASROCK board, it is NOT ASUS - owned by them but that is all. Don't expect ASUS quality in an ASROCK board, you won't find it.
ASROCK are junk tbqh....along with Foxconn, Biostar ECM and 1 or 2 others...

My last 5 boards were all ASUS, I love them - on my 6th now, but the last one was a pile of ****, partly due to the crap Nvidia chipset it was using.
Mostly tho it was just a **** board, **** bios, **** everything. I hated it, was M3N78 series.

Anyway enuf ranting.....I just swapped it out for my AMD chip and it's all good times again.
You can't expect the HW makers to be perfect all the time though - that's being unrealistic - they will screw up.

Why is the older P8P67 Deluxe B3 better than the P8Z68-v-pro?

    Isn't the P8Z68-v-pro NEWER/more futureproof?

I'm asking as I was going to buy the P8P67 Deluxe b3 but was thinking of going for the newer P8Z68-v-pro.

I can still buy the P8P67 Deluxe B3 or I can order the P8Z68-v-pro.

You say the P8P67 Deluxe B3 is better, why?

From what i can gather the z68 only added new features, if you don't need them no point getting it.

That is true, i have personally had 1 board die from asus and my current am3 board that i just hate for reasons i said in an earlier post. I also have a friend with an asus board who has had nothing but trouble trying to get it stable at stock settings. Not saying asus is bad to everyone but i have just personally had enough of them.

Ah yes, misunderstood your post, my bad. I was considering that board but wont need the features on the z68 so i went with the higher end p67 for $4 more.

Same reason why the P8Z68 Deluxe is better than the P8Z68-V Pro. The Deluxe editions are a tradeoff between the Pro and ROG Extreme editions and it not only shows in features but performance also. The 16+2 phase design of the P8P67 Deluxe matters. Intel Smart Response Technology and Quick Sync Video with Lucid Virtu do not IMHO.

I got my motherboard and cpu today, all working so far but when i was installing all the stuff off the motherboards website one of the programs i think "Intel Rapid Storage" or something put my 2x 500gb hdd's in to raid 1 without asking me :S. i uninstalled it and it says its recovering all the info, looks like it might take awhile.

Why the hell did it do that to my drives without asking me?

Some people say the P8P67 Pro B3 is better whilst others say the P8Z68-v-pro is better...

However, according to the review of the Asus P8Z68-V-Pro in Hexus, it did slightly better than the P8P67 Deluxe...

Personally I think their both 99% the same, only the Z68 edition has more extras and more options in bios for overclocking.

At first I was going to buy the older P8P67 Deluxe Pro but have just ordered the newer P8Z68-v-pro...

I plan on overclocking the 17 2600k to 4.8ghz no matter what... :D

Wow this thing is faster then i thought, ended up just sticking with 4.5GHz with under 1.3v. It's been an instant double in FPS in a lot of games that hated my 1055t (wow, sc2, heavily modded oblivion etc).

The motherboard seems 100% stable and have had no issues :D.

I have been reading this thread and I still have no idea which mobo I should buy!

Sorry to hijack the thread. Looks like the OP is done anyways! :grin2:

I have an ASUS right now and I really like them but what about this ASROCK that the OP bought? Or would suggest something else?

I can 100% recommend it so far, no issues at all with the mobo! Just plugged everything in and it worked like, well, a mobo :p. Once windows and drivers were installed i applied a lovely 4.5GHz overclock, worked first time at 1.3v but i could probably go lower.

Had 1 BSOD when i disabled my sound card in device manager that didn't happen on my other motherboard/cpu but that's a minor issue and the only one.

Thanks killer. All I really need is 8 x 8 crossfire and support for 'K' Sandybridge!

Not sure if I should go for an ASUS pro or deluxe or Asus P8 Z68-V that was mentioned. Stuck!

No big deal, any of the mentioned Asus's in this thread are excellent, all would overclock nicely...

    Enjoy!

Nice, as you may of read in the other threads, I have ordered the i7 2600k as well as the Asus P8 Z68-V-Pro deluxe, SAME gear as you...

I plan to overclock to 4.8ghz too, no more or less, don't need to push it too much as I'm not running benchies, using it strictly for gaming.

What I wanted to know was what voltage you used to stable the cpu at 4.8ghz?

    I'm guessing around 1.4v?

What other settings did you play around with in the bios to get a stable yet cool running cpu?
