what one would you get first

    ATI radeon hd 4870 1GB
    So i was thinking i need an upgrade but witch one first as sadly money is an object round this way,
    so i have my eyes on one of of the 2 and i can all ways get the other next month so witch one would you get first
    XFX HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
    Or
    AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 6MB Cache

    Oh and will my mainboard take a am3 it says am2+ on the box
    i just don't no if they ever released a bios update :bang:

    It looks like your MB supports AMD CPUs up to 95W. That Phenom II X2 should work.

    thanks guys but if i was to get the graphics card would it be useless with out a decent cpu to go with it
    I.e bottlenecking

    aye depening on the resolution your cpu would bottleneck for that reason id go with the cpu first

    Seeing as you have a 4870 1gb card I would go for the cpu first. Sure the new gfx card would work in your current system but your cpu will hold it back quite a bit. Get the new cpu now then your system will be ready for a new card next month.

    been checking on xfx site and the CPU i want is not listed on the compatibility list
    and i only run games at 1400 x 900 only got a 19inch monitor
