    Guys,

Sorry to take people back a couple of years  but I am trying to hold out for the new GTX6** series whilst battling with some recent issues with a pair of GTX285's.

I have had to take these out of a water cool loop to start testing them individually, as I was having huge issues with what appears to be one or both cards dying.

Having now got them back on air so I can easily switch cards and slots to test, I then downloaded the lastest WHQL Win7 64 bit drivers from Nvidia and am having an odd issue with both cards individually in some games (notably COD4).

Therefore just wanted to post up here to ask any poor old guys like me with older GTX200 series cards, what drivers they have found most stable, as I has running another 2** series driver for months with no issues, but stupidly didn't note down which one it was before uninstalling and of course I now find I have downloaded a few 200 series drivers and don't know whihc to test first

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks

    Ridesy

I run the 196.34's they seem the best for IQ and stability for me.

I'd love for Hilbert (or someone else) to benchmark multiple cards with multiple driver versions so we could get a good cross-section of driver performance. But, that's a lot of work, so I can imagine why Hilbert hasn't done that.

I always use the latest drivers, even the Quadros sometimes. And yes, they're stable.

    Thanks guys,

Will give the 197.45 a go if testing shows latest WHQL give any issues, but at the moment it looks like it is one card that is dying as the first when in alone isn't crashing at all, but what was the second in SLI is stopping dead in game and giving nvlddmkm errors.

Looks like an RMA coming up with EVGA Europe :flip2:

i have gts 250 and best driver for my pc is 263.14.
    i tested 197.45 vs 263.14 and 263.14 wins :D
with 197.45 race07 has started randomly freezing with a black screen for 5 seconds, then screen comes back with 263.14 not.
all games running smooth and more frames.
The Witcher 2 is running smooth with 40 - 60+ frames medium settings.
    wth 197.45 The Witcher 2 with 40 - 60 stuttering and tearing.
windows 7 response time is better, DPC Latency Checker is very good.
until Nvidia release better drivers, I Guess This Will Never Happen :D i will keep 263.14.
    (sorry english not very good)

258.96 by far have been the best drivers I've ever used on my GTX275 in Windows 7. Smooth as glass in most games. These were the last drivers to use the old installer, incidently. If I try to use the newer drivers I get stuttering in games but especially bad in WoW.
