To the OP Your temps are fine. It's summer and room temps are higher. My card idles at 48-50 and goes well above 70 when playing demanding games. No problems whatsoever.
my gtx 260 does idle at 50-52 and can go up to 78 when play Crysis.. i never have a problem, so, i dont think its your temperature. Also, i have open case cuz i only have 1 intake fan and I live in austin, tx which outside normally can be 100 and i barely have my air conditioner on to cool my house. I'm guess its your driver
It also sounds like a PSU problem to me. I had a similar problem with my LAN party rig. No artifacting, no shutdowns, temperatures are good but computer reboots a few minutes into a game. Swapped PSU, problem went away.
its not psu.. sigh where you even get such idea.. its simple first off there was 185.xx driver.. i think that one increased gpu heating by atleast 10 celcius, ( to me it did.. and did to whole lot of other ppl here.. there was topic ) newest drivers didnt decrease that temperature and the main point.. its summer.. i have sli myself.. and no special cooling.. it was fine till now.. but now i get artifacting and video driver crasing.. since temps go past 75 on one of my cards.. its freakin hot in the room too.. even fans on 100% doesnt reduce temp at all .. so if its hot in your room.. cuz it sure is in mine. there isnt much you can do..
As the OP pointed out in GAMES: 'when i play games it goes to around 70C+' Those are completely normal temps. If you're getting artifacts at 75C then you have issues and it is not with temperature. Both of my FTW's run OCCT and Furmark at 85C with the fan on auto with zero issues. I'll reach about 80C in Crysis on a hot day still with the fans on auto with no issues. My suggestion to you is to figure out which of your cards is generating artifacts under normal temps and replace it.
So does this mean it's okay now with the CPU at default clocks? I'm wondering why you would have your PCI-e at 110 instead of 100 or can't you force it to 100 on that MOBO? On my overclocked Core 2 I set the PCI-e to 100 manually when I increased my FSB to prevent any possible problems from an overclocked bus.
has this recently started happening or this is a new card ? if it recently started happening heres what you can do , you can vaccum dust out of the HSF with a can of compressed air or a blower set to low - medium at a distance , or adjust the fan speed to 100% and option 3 is a bit risky but you will have to take apart your cards HSF and reapply the past , Nvidia stock thermal solution sucks you will have to take the card HSF apart and apply AS5 , if your at 60's and your temps are still the same i suggest you RMA it =/my card is idle at 60 and i play tf2 , l4d all the time and i have yet to see an artifact , if you insist on testing i suggest you get another card like a 9800GTX/GT and test it with your PSU , i think your psu is at fault if 2nd card works fine then yeah its your card , 70 degrees for a card is not so much it should be able to handle it
I have an XFX GTX260 BE it idles at 60°C # in 2d mode at 40% (~1420rpm) fan speed under load (3d) it goes up to 81°C # at 55% (~1960rpm) fan speed the above is with the fan in auto speed mode and no OC # = after a few 3d cycles / when the PC has been on >2h+
I am running an EVGA gtx 260 37c idle 48c under load and it is overclocked. The temps you are running are not high enough to cause problems. But however if your case is not ventilated enough or have enough fans your chipset on your motherboard can and will overheat. (Keep in mind that the newer dual slot cards are hot and can add to a case ventilation problem.) It doesn't take much to overheat them at all. It will case you to lock up, blue screen, and you will have fragmenting and artifacting. Your card is not the issue . You may even have to select a better case. Maybe a Coolermaster HAF 932 or a Thermaltake v9 . They have some of the best airflow ratings of all the cases out there. And get your self a good fan controller. The NZXT sentry 2 is cheap, looks great, and works wonderfully. :biggun:
Easiest thing to do here is to replace the TIM on the card, i always do this with new cards anyway as stock TIM is notwhere near as good as any branded one, go grab some Arctic cleaning products and some AS Ceramique(dont use AS5). Enjoy a cooler, stable GPU!
the temps are fine but why don't you check in game with afterburner OSD, you can monitor your temps while under load
I got an XFX GTX 260 and temps for me when idle 60 C, in game 64 - 77, depending on the game. I use evga precision and run the fan at 80 to 70 percent, so i get even lower temps. Lol, did not see that its an older post
men i guess that your problem might be a driver or bios problem if you use quadro drivers the gpu wil guet very high temps with the last build but if you didnt touch bios have you ever oc the gpu and if you did how much can you tel me how musc power you have on the cor of gpu and if you oced the gpu how high did you boost your clocks and core clock only try to help pleese reply becouse you may have damaged the gpu is she stil under gigabyte warranty
I have 260 I idle @ 48 and peak about 78 how do you get so low? Also case is well ventilated I have 140mm front, and top fan. 120mm rear fan and 4 120mm side fans. Is this with the stock cooler? Also does anyone know where this card should idle\peak?
Hi. Lol, yeah, old tread revived twice !? Anyway my temps Idle for my 2 SLI Zotac Gtx260 AMP2 are: 48 degrees and 56. Load is 84 and 87. Do you guys tried to enable Nvidia hybrid power on Win7? so that when using onboard video the GTX 260 to be completely disabled, even the fans? because we know that GTX 260 consumes a lot in idle... This may have been said before but try running with just 1x1GB stick of system RAM and remove the other 3 sticks and then try. Sound like memory problem to me. Could be powersupply but the Coolermaster one are halfway decent and GTX260 doesn't need more than 600W.
If I remember correctly, you only get 1 SLI mode.... You're responding to a post that's 2 years old....I'm fairly sure the problem has been resolved by now...
