We review the Radeon HD 6790 a card that is designed to compete with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 550 Ti. The HD 6790 is based on AMD's 40 nm Barts GPU which is the very same graphics processor used in the...

    Wait?

I thought this...this was an April Fools joke, since it was announced April 1st.

    This is real?

BOTH NVIDIA & AMD are retarded for this.

Do we really need low end, middle end, high end, low to middle end, middle to high end, high to insane end, and then to throw on top of those, these are

    "low to middle-ish high-ish end"

    Getting nuts.

The HD5770 were that segment king for 1.5years. 450/550Ti come and fail, HD6790 seems a good successor(would've been better at 28nm, but impossible right now).

Is it me or does this feel like the ati 5830?

Slower then the amd 6850 and uses more power due to the higher core clock?

Card does look good , but only on papper vs 550 ti.

It does take good beating from GTX 460 which is still king of the hill in that segment.

Except the 6790 was intended to compete with the GTS550Ti....which it very easily beats...

Doesnt matter. You can get GTX 460 for allmost same price , and which has higher OC potential.

Very dissapointing, waits for threads of people trying to unlock these cards before giving it a full write off.

people will buy low-mid range cards purely on budget most of the time. or sadly they go into best buy with no idea what to look for

With current pricing this card is marketing failure ( not a failure as a card itself).

Sadly, it will end up just like HD5830, and disapear from the shops pretty quick.

yea without a doubt the 5830 was a horrible card. i didnt know they existed until someone was posting about their problems with it. time will tell if the 6790 will be as bad as the 5830.

also i apologize for thinking you said 5850. few hours away from finishing up a 12 hour work shift. im pretty tired. only good thing is i can have my laptop out until 0500 here

"OC Potential" only matters to those who are buying with the intention of OCing. If your intention is to use the stock clocks, that doesn't matter. BUT, the GTX460 is also a "last gen" card..whereas the HD6790 is a "current gen" and actually competes with the GTX550Ti....which is nVidia's "current gen"..

    Not a problem in my local bestbuy. From ATI/AMD you get HD4350, HD3450, HD5750. The rest are GT210, GT220, GT240, GTS450, GTX460 768mb, GTX465 and GTX470.

    Probably should be...
