Man I need a more powerful rig, even on low to medium for alot of settings, my FPS is pretty damn bad.
Yeah, I know it's not, but you can make up for that with sheer POWER. Hard to say if it's not optimized or anything, but the maps are like 10 miles in length and width, and there's no in-between loading...lots going on. Makes Crysis maps look small. Wish I had OA though, I heard it performs better, ACE2 is also only developed for it now, and it has like 5x the population. AA2 was gifted to me though, so can't complain about that, just wish I had OA also.
Yea I need to download it again since I bought it through steam. And give it a run with my 470's in sli. Last time I ran it, it was with my 5970 which is now in my htpc rig. It wasn't as though it didn't run it which it did and at 60fps (I play with v-sync) but that it wasn't smooth it stuttered a lot even though I had high fps.
They recommend to install it on a SSD. Like I said, it makes Crysis maps look like they're Call of Duty sized....so it requires quite abit.
Yes our Lightspeed is trying for all missions, As to Ace2 he is working on this also and is in the testing stages. Regards, Halli~SPARTA~
That was with an ssd. Basically the last time I tried it, it was with an hd 5970 on my sig rig, which includes an ssd.
Mkilbride, you need a GTX570. When i went from my GTx280 to 460 to 570 my ArmA2 fps doubled. And you need an SSD for smoothness (turning, driving, flying). Also, some options perform better when set to HIGH, like SHADOWS. With high the gfxcard is used for shadows and not the cpu, resulting in higher fps. Terraindetails to low get rid of most of the grass, another fps boost.

The number of keypresses drove me crazy so I purchased the VAC system. It is great and works like a charm. Also some players have created profiles for others to use. I think it allows for a 30 day trial. http://www.dwvac.com/ no I don't work for them.
Sorry to post in a 'classic' thread, but this game NEVER gets old. BIS just released a MASSIVE update 1.60 which fixes so much stuff i dont even bother naming anything. Just look for yourself. Includes Updates to ArmA2, ArmA2: OA, PMC and BAF DLC http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2076557
Yeah, I'm waiting til my new rig to really play this game more. I was averaging 30-35FPS on Medium with my current. Turns out I was really CPU bound as a Bit-tech review has shown that a 2500K @ Stock gets 80FPS with a graphics card like mine. OC it to 4.5GHZ and you can surpass 100FPS. SO yeaaaaah, excited about that, plus Project Reality:ArmA 2. Also getting a nice SSD...so I can finally play this game without every turn being 10 FPS and watching pop-in.
There's a new zombie mod out for Arma2 called DayZ. It's still in alpha stage, but it seems very fun and popular, and there's already a lot of servers up with 50 player slots. It's essentially a survival game much like Stalker, only rule is: Don't get eaten by zombies. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?133560-DayZ-Zombie-RPG-(Unofficial-Mod)-Alpha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRpPIyJDSEQ
I really enjoyed this game on my old rig but I could never enjoy multiplayer due to really bad lag. I always got a broken chain in the corner of the screen, obviously meaning I'm on a **** connection which I am. BT Now I'm building a new PC I am reluctant to buy it again due to this issue. Is there any way I can solve it apart from maybe changing ISP?
what kind of speed to you have on your internet connection? the multiplayer code has been much improved in 1.60, no more warping of other players. i have a 4/0.5 mbit connection and i don't have problems (for the most part) with either american or eu servers.
yeah, it would be better with a faster connection obviously, but maybe it's worth a shot, i think you would be fine with european servers.
