FSAA makes the foliage looks crap, I find adding useEdgeAA = 2 as the best setting..When I replayed Crysis a month ago, I only added edgeAA =2 and textures streaming OFF and the graphics looks very nice

My Crysis screenshots by default without ANY mods, still looks impressive to me:

I use the AF+Pom mod, not the in-game AA, but MLAA. The method you describe works fine: 1920x1200 in 1680x1050 isn't that big of a performance hit, but in my experience MLAA runs and looks better.

MLAA works fine and looks pretty good in combination with the ingame edgeAA.

reducing a screenshot makes images less aliased as you're losing a lot of detail... it definitely doesn't make it sharper, quite the opposite, every photo/screenshot that's been reduced in size needs sharpening.

Keep meaning to go back and replay Crysis before i play the sequel.

Might do it without all the mods so i can accurately compare the two, as i think i have been looking at too many modded screenshots and video's over the years.

Think that is the issue here too, most of the shots are either modded, or downsized, giving people the impression the game looks better than it does.

the downsizing helps more than the mods, but crysis 1 vanilla looks much better than crysis 2 regardless

Ehh, I don't know about that. The trees look better, but that's about it as far as looks. Crysis has more destruction than Crysis 2 though, and random animals to throw around. As far as models go, they're about the same. Then when I look at random foliage on the ground in Crysis 1, I always thought it looked like crap.
