Hi. Due to me getting another PC that only has PCI-e connectors, x1 and x16,:bang: I was considering the Asus Xonar DX, however I do not have any power connections from my PSU spare. Its a Packard Bell IMedia PC, so its compact and nothing to spare. So, I understand that the DX needs a seperate power lead, is this correct? If so, then it is out of the question. I need a high quality sound card that does not need a seperate power lead or alternatively an external soundcard...was looking at the Soundblaster Pro Audio Station as a last resort. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
You can find adapter cables. If not look to the Auzentech cards, they have cards that do not need the extra power input.
Could you elaborate? Which ones. I DID have a Prelude, so I am used to quality, therefore I dont want a card/external unit that sound..well, crap. Thanks/
The Auzen Forte is PCIE so is the Auzentech Bravura which rob was talking about not needing any power connections. The power adaptors rob mention will work on Xonar cards so you can plug power into them.
thanks, but reading the pdf on the site, it states that the forte needs a power lead to work...thats why I was asking the question.
Have you not got any floppy drive connectors, these ones :- As thats what powers the Dx, not a 4x Pin molex or 6x Pin PCI-E etc...
No....I knew what it was, thats why I was asking the question, but thanks for the replies guys. Anyway I have decided to go for the Creative XFi Soundblaster Surround 5.1 external card for the time being http://uk.store.creative.com/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-x-fi-surround-5-1-pro/1-20055.aspx. There is another HD card but out of my price band ATM, but will certainly consider it later....this one.... http://uk.store.creative.com/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-x-fi-hd/1-19829.aspx
