266.77 WHQL from Evga

I decided to give them a go and so far so good.

No FPS gain or loss for that matter, but I noticed that it does not "stutter".

In Dead Space 2 for instance there were a few stuttering here and there while using the 266.58 but now they are gone.

Also the same happened with Crysis, it does not stutter anymore.

I will keep them for now...

 

not audio my HDMI and DVI ports died while running a simple 3DM11...

 

Uhhhhhhh sorry but it's not only for PC Screen speakers, but also if you have a
receiver with HDMI in and out like the Onkyo TX-SR508 7.1

And there are a lot people that use there HDMI like i have to a receiver, only
with HDMI you can have DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD

Strange i also have a Geforce GTX 460 1GB, (2 of them in SLI) and i have
absolutely no problems, all works better.

 

This has proven to be a great driver for me. It runs really smooth and image quality seems a bit more vibrant in just about everything. The official 266.58 proved a bit problematic in some games. It caused a strange artifact-like behavior in NetKar Pro and would ocassionally lockup with dots all over the screen. Sometimes it would look just like pink and blue artifacts. This driver solved those issues.

So it was an error in previous release?
This """feature""" was automatic in game or selecting resolution via Seven Resolution Menu.

 

They were probably pulled because they weren't drivers from the Desktop branch. It seems obvious from the files included that they are from an Optimus/Hybrid driver branch.

Forceware 266.35 = r265_64-47
Forceware 266.58 = r266_45-4
Optimus 266.77 = r265_00-261
Quadro 267.05 = r265_64-116

It is interesting that people are seeing performance boosts though.

 

Well benchmarks cant lie.
Its a clear jump in some of my tests with a gain of 10 fps or more in some situations, with a loss of 10 fps or 5 in others, so therefore something is different.

A good thing you pointed thought, the branch of the drivers. r265_00-261 should be from the same branch of those AWESOME 265.90q we used to install a few weeks ago (tbh im still using them on my laptop).
And those kinda shown what a great driver set are.

 

What is Optimus/Hybrid anyway... sounds like a Transformer to me!!! :3eyes:

Anyway, the games I've tested so far suggest that the 266.77 drivers are pretty much identical in performance to the 266.66 ones, using a modded INF, I had installed previously. I have not seen any performance improvements but nor have I seen any major issues either (other than known existing ones such as the DiRT 2/F1 2010 16xCSAA+ bug).

NVIDIA Optimus is something NVIDIA came up with for switching from integrated video to discrete video on the fly in laptops.

 

I see bigger % GPU usage in Masseffect 2 over the 266.58, but i also belive the IQ has improved, perhaps my AA didnt work properly with the 266.58.

Other games like COD Black Ops run fine, no problems, also did a bit of L4D2 and no problems there either.

Didnt do any performance tests, and i did not experience any slowdowns. so cant say about performance, but stable wise i find this driver to be as good as the 266.58

 

These are working fine here in Starcraft 2, Dawn of War: SS & DC , Quakelive, and Crysis Warhead. :cheers:

 

Do you mean a VGA to DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI adaptor on it?

This doesn't work,

VGA = Analogue only

DVI = Is Analogue and Digital

HDMI = Digital only

(This is a simple explanation I know all about A/D/I variant DVI)

Your outputting an analogue signal and shoving it in to a digital input.

And it your just going to an analogue signal from the digital one you will notice its not as sharp as the digital one by a long way (this may depend more on the panel though).

 

HDMI pretty much outputs a DVI-D signal with audio.

No difference in video quality between HDMI and DVI at all. In fact, DVI and HDMI are pin compatible, hence you have some vid cards that output HDMI via DVI with the use of a converter.

Way too many people think HDMI is superior for some reason.

As I posted above. HDMI is merely DVI-D with audio in the same cable. Nothing more.

 

HDMI is superior to DVI as you only need one cable for video and sound.

 

So you're getting a 10 fps in Mafia 2, yet Release Notes mention nothing about it.:3eyes:

Getting a 5 fps drop in Dirt 2, yet Release Notes state "up to 7%"?

You really should pay more attention when benchmarking.

 

You really should realise that release notes do NOT include every possible reaction of a system to the driver.

 

Exactly! Too many people here on guru3d always scream for release notes and seem to think that every single fix and change is included there? When in reality release notes often only include the "top" fixes and most known games that they have improved in.

 

its not exactly superior the only thing thats different is you can get sound through the cable but there is no point in that cause speakers in monitors suck unless your a general user its not a benefit so if your only looking for full HD even DVI is just fine for that purpose
