As much as the 20 billion dollar Console industry? But yeah, PC gaming is quite alive. I love that Portal brought in Valve 20 million. How many people can claim a 3 year old game brings in more money than 4 newer games. Stuff like this makes me think Valve is rolling in the dough when I hear that HL1 from 1998 sold over 50,000 copies in one month. GO VALVE!
I bet VALVe are swimming in money now, with Gabe rubbing his hands together whilst laughing manically. I heard they bought a white cat with some of the cash. Still... I would like to hear less news of the money, and more news on that other game they make? Epilife 1/3... hafisode... some chap called, Godfrey or something... god, its been so long I've forgotten the name of it. :nerd: I wonder how much the whole (retail/digital delivery etc) PC gaming industry made last year then?
Valve is simply one distribution network for PC games, there are many others... and OP never compared the two... :3eyes: But whilst we're on the subject... I quote... "PC Gaming is the largest market according to a study recently conducted by research group JPR. The study goes on to conclude that the $20 billion dollar PC gaming market, predicted to rise to $34 billion by 2011, was bigger, worth more money, was growing faster and had better tech than the console market could provide." I'm confused, Valve is a private company and never lets out numbers for these kinds of things so where is this information coming from?
Then other digital providers and add retail sales, not just US but for whole world and PC gaming looks perfectly healthy.
Probably not, MMO's are even more popular now, WOW:Cataclysm sold over 3million copies in the first 24hours, and ended up at 5million a month later, The Sims3 sold also sold about that, as did every overpriced expansion pack, and there are ALOT of them. MW2, and Black Ops sold really well on the PC, maybe not compared to the console versions, but compared to other PC games. PC gaming has never been so profitable, unfortunately most of it is from only a couple of genres.
This can't be right, PC Gaming is dying/ dead. "They" keep telling me this every year! Oh well, let me see what on sale at steam today......
