So are the 6870 series a better upgrade when you compare it to my 5750. I wanted to get a 6950 but I need to take care of some things that are more important at this point in time so the 6950 is no longer in my budget but I could get a 6870 and that will be it.. So will I see any difference in my overall performance when you compare my 5750 to a 6870. Also my LCD monitor runs at a max res of 1440x900. It is an older Acer AL170W. If yall need more info please let me know. Thanks.

of course you will see an overall difference in performance, with the 6870 you will have in some games the performance of two 5770 not 5750 so you will see an improvement for sure :)

save up and buy a better monitor the 5750 should be fine for the most part. thats about 4850 range performance. nobody says u must buy a new gpu now. the 6870 will be a very nice step up though. and i woudl really get a better monitor you can get a 1920x1080 res one for around 120-180 bucks

Yeah honestly with the highest res currently available to you, you might as well just keep using the 5750. Just save up a bit more so you can buy a better monitor and card both. You will be a lot better off that way. Until then the 5750 will get you by fine. The only other option I can think of is to get the new card now, and as soon as it arrives and is fully tested, put your 5750 up for sale, and use the cash from it towards a new monitor.

I'd get at least 22'', 1680x1050 if I was you. The more the prettier.

6870 should be good up to, and including 1920x1080.

yeah, you can get a 1920x1080 one @ 22" for $144, I would definitely have gone for something like that.

It would b nice to get a 22 inch but a 20 inch is the max size that will fit on my computer desk. My desk it kind small so a 20 inch is all I can fit and I don't want to replace my desk anytime soon.

I would get the 6870 then! Then later, buy a new monitor.

1440x900 to 1600x900 is not worth it.. especially with your current card.
You'll notice that it will be slow because you upgraded your monitor.
I would just get the card and get a monitor later.. I think it's worth it to pay the extra money for a 6950.

I had the chance to play around with a HD 6870 on my 1920X1200 LCD and was pleasantly suprised to see that it could handle most any game out just fine. Of course as long as you dont go to crazy with AA in certain really demanding titles.

aa isn't even needed really at 1080p and above anyway. if its a older game i max it out for ****s and giggles but it doesn't add anything visually

Gotta disagree with you there, even at 1920X1200 I can see tons of jaggies in game unless im using at least 4XAA. Higher resolutions may help a bit but its no replacement for AA.

Bro if you are planing for game at 1600 X 900 the HD 6870 is more then enough. The HD 6950 will really benefit you if you play 1920 X1080 or above res.

Now if you are talking about upgrade the 1st thing will be a BIG COMPUTER TABLE. Which will allow you to buy bigger monitor and which will give you pleasure to get high end GFX.
