This card: ATi Radeon 5850 In this motherboard: Intel DP55WB Results in this report from GPU-Z: GPU-Z report Now what puzzles me, is the statement that GPU-Z shows which would indicate, that my graphic card is practically connected through only PCI-E x4 slot, which I suppose would mean a significant performance loss. Anyone has any ideas if there actually is anything to do?
Hmm Odd. You board has one full x16 lane.. Have you looked into the bios settings? perhaps there is a setting for PCI-E
maybe reset bios to defaults and try then... its a long shot but i really cant think of a reason for this except that you overlooked something... theres also display of pci-e width in cpu-z, check it out but if two programs are reporting the same odds are third will too... i trust it you have the latest versions of the programs too... EDIT: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=326404 check this out, while guide is made for P55/X58 issue it will do forced installation of the latest intel chipset driver for any intel mobo... that could also be your problem, mobo drivers...
There is no onboard GPU on this mobo. I have now tried 3 different BIOS updates without a satysfying result. Different Graphic card drivers have no effect on this.
Or try another card if you have one and see if it runs at x4. Is that motherboard pci-express 2.0 compatible?
reseat the card. i have had some funny issues over the years that were fixed by this. as for 2.0 compatibility, a p55 is pcix2.0 isnt it?. my p35 is 1.1 and my 5850 has always ran great on it.
Reseating was one of the first things I tried, with no effect. DP55WB and 5850 have no apparent reason to not work properly together, so it's gotta be something funny. I hope I fix the BIOS, which now, after my "skilled" blind settings is refusing to start and the computer just beeps angrily :-D
No other system available :-( Well, I give up. At least I fixed the BIOS, now I'll send it to the experts.
I face this same problem with my Mobo. My solution is 1. remove your GFX from the mother board. 2. Take a clean cloth and clean the PCI EX connectors in the card (the golden ribbed on the card.) 3. Clean the PCI EX slot in the motherboard. Use brush and a cloth. Try to clean the inner parts of the slot by the cloth. 4. Reconnect every thing and load defult Bios. Works for me very well.
Try one last thing, Change PCI-E frequency in bios to 103 and see if it works, if not RMA the card or try a old GPU and see if it works, Could be your PCI-E lane..
Okay, so I unpacked the computer, tried both of these suggestions, none worked. Sorry guys, but thank you very very much for your help.
