Warning the flowing may contain childish excitement: Thats right, I am moving up in the video card world- sick of lag on my 8800gts 320 I could not resist getting myself an 768MB Asus GTX 460 TOP, 3680MHz GDD @ £91.46.... a price that satisfied my student finances... and it came with HAWX 2

Im quite excited actualy, its been a long time since I got any new hardware and I am looking forward to finally being able to properly play bad company 2 - Am I right in my estimates it should be roughly double the performance of my current card?

A quick final question: Will it be worth the power it takes to use the 8800gts 320 that I have as a Physx card?

You have a similar setup to me. You will definately see a performance boost so enjoy the card. I would consider using the 8800GTS 320Mb as a physx card as well.

    kindest regards

    Cheers!

On the other note, how's that medical faculty coming up?

Congratulations, however, from what I've seen the 6850 is cheaper and faster than the 460. Not sure about the 768 but it's definitely cheaper than the 1GB version.

i dont want to burst your bubble, but BC2 is more about the cpu than gpu so dont get your hopes up that with your current cpu you'll be able to "properly play bad company 2". wont happen ...

Great deal on the GTX460, and with a game too.

Should be a noticeable upgrade from the 8800GTS, and should run most stuff pretty well providing you don't overdo it with the res and AA.

Liranan, the 6850 is 50% more expensive than what he paid for the 460.

You will see a huge diffrence mate. My GTX 260 was twice as fast as a 8800GTS 320MB and i had gone to a GTX470 yesterday which is twice as fast as my GTX260.

To be truthful i was still happy with my GTX260 but it died on me and eVGA don't offer warranty to items bought off ebay which i did so had no choice.

But i am very happy with the GTX470, currently playing Fallout NV with 32x FSAA and 16x AF.

I did just that, used it for mafia2 with great succes. Its a brick compared to the 460 as you know, but actually a decent physx card with the 96 sp and good mem bandwith. When your done with the few physx games worth playing,i´d recommend to uninstall the card again,as it deliver quite some heat and high power consumption ,idle and load,as its a 90nm chip, and no 2d clocks.
    :)

lol I had bro, I was gonna go for a GTX580 but just don't have the funds right now, I had a spare GTX460 so popped it in(which a friend was meant to take but backed out)

After some small annoyances with SLI not working, (had to force AFR1 in the control panel to fix) it seems to be working great, it actually seems better than my old 5970, I'm certainly happier

Part of me was hoping to hear bad things lol.
I keep considering grabbing another one, around the £150 mark is kinda tempting, was wanting to hear bad things lol.

I approach it with more realistic expectations anyway, if i was getting 40-50fps in a game, and SLI got me 60fps, i would still be pleased, reviews always make SLI/CF look better than it is as they are usually using hand picked games.

^ yeh that's tru, but I have some of the games that they bench with so I'm happy, ME2 and Batman AA are great on it, I have to put it in single GPU mode for Half-life 2 tho

Overclock more. Fermi seems to work best with higher clock, even if the game doesn't need it. Had to overclock my Athlon II x3 from 3.1 to 3.4 just to get it to hit 99% GPU load in games. At stock I was getting 30-40% less performance, which is insane considering it's only a 300Mhz difference.
