It's about $70 dearer here and if I was going 470 I'd want a custom cooled model which are even more, putting it out of my strict budget :(
Maybe the 580 will push 470s down even further, I guess I can hold out longer with my 8800gtx (9800 died).

Yet another site that don't have a clue what a GTX480 scores in Vantage and are just repeating misinformation from someone elses lack of skills... As for the rumored stuff, pretty useless stuff, but a great way to generate traffic... But I do wonder how you guys stumble upon them..

GTX 580 To launch on November 9th
According to a new leak, Nvidia's GF110 based GTX 580 should launch next Tuesday, November 9th. Although the specs have been rumoured for quite some time, we can now be pretty sure that the card will end up with 512 SPs, 128 TMUs and should work at clocks that are significantly higher than on the GF100-based GTX 480.

The card should end up clocked at 772MHz for the GPU, 1544MHz for Shaders and 4.0Gbps for 1536MB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit interface. Another interesting piece of information is the actual TDP of the new card. Although it has more CUDA Cores and a higher GPU clock, the card has a slightly lower TDP of 244W. We still don't know if Nvidia is still talking about typical load power, as the GTX 480 or GF100 had 250W TDP, which was actualy a bit closer to 300W under full load.

In addition to these specs, Chinese site PCOnline leaked, what appears to be, a Nvidia performance summary slide that puts the upcoming GTX 580 against GTX 480 and AMD's Radeon HD 5870 card. Of course, these slide should be taken with a grain of salt as these are still to be confirmed. In any case, the situation should be quite clear once Nvidia officially launches this card on November 9th.

What is it with nVidia and wanting to release this card in total silence...I wonder how much noise they'll make once the NDA is lifted on the 580...

We got a few confirmations of recently leaked specs and facts about Geforce GTX 580 posted here.

The new card is sampling to journalists right now. It should launch on Tuesday 9th but its unclear at what time. It looks like it will be the morning on Tuesday November 9th.

A few important facts are that the card works at 772MHz core, has 512 shaders and 2200MHz memory. It should be more silent than the previous GTX 480.

Our sources are also claiming that the mini shader cores got slightly improved and that the card works and performance just as it was intended for original Fermi GF100, Geforce GTX 480 card.

You can look at this card as Fermi done right, and we can also confirm that the card is scheduled to launch before Cayman based Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6970 parts.

The fun in the graphics world is just about to begin as there are still a few more cards to launch until the end of 2010.

Looking like it won't be a paper launch after all, but who knows what Nvidia is up to, i prob won't either, as i will be on holiday on the 9th.

I can see this being reasonably priced, maybe not initially, but with AMD releasing the 6970 at the end of the month, which is likely to be as fast if not faster with alot of games, they will have to be competitive, unless AMD go mad with prices too.

Just give us some (un)real benchies already. I'm really interested in how all these tweaks affect heavy DX11 performance (read - high AA levels+tessellation).

I think Nvidia releasing the 580 before the 6970 gives AMD the advantage. They can then tweak the clock and ram speeds (if performance is close to beat the 580), so why would Nvidia release it so long before the 6970?

I think by now, both the 580 and 6970 have their clocks defined and closed to any last minute changes.

Don´t forget that Nvidia and AMD need to release their final clocks early so their cards can be produced and shipped on the release date.

That's what I always thought but we would have leaked box pics by now then right?

So...the 580 will be as fast / slightly faster than AMD's dual-GPU solution the 5970?

    Go NVIDIA!

    A 595GTX would be frightening...it would be 30-40% faster than AMD's 6970.

Two trolls in a row, one from each side:3eyes:

Old/repeated news on the diagram though, but i wouldn't be suprised if the 6970 is the better DX9/10 card, while the GTX580 is the better DX11 one.
