You would think people into PC gaming would know their stuff but going by the tech issues on PC game support forums, you would be amazed how stupid some folk are. So yes they will fall for this crap and ATI knows it.
So you REALLY think some idiot walks into a store and buys a 5870, has the knowledge to install it but is dumb enough not to look at a review? Really? So you know people who would do this or are you guessing along with everyone else? If you know people like that and let them make that purchase you should line up right next to them.
in this day of age when the world is global village, if someone does not read or hear or find on the forums that the 6800 series are high mid-range really should stop using the net
Also looking forward to review. I want to upgrade from the 5770 to a higher end card.. think the 6970 may be just what the dr. ordered. of course, so long as it gives a nice boost to performance, runs cool, and the price is right
I'm hoping to see HD6850's with upward 6-pin power connectors: they would fit better in my midi-tower. Can't wait to see the reviews!
Ever heard of impulse buying? There are millions of morons who do that every day without looking anything up till it is too late.
Well feel free after the holiday season to point out the 1,000's of post of people complaining about the poor purchase they made because they were confused about the numbering scheme :3eyes: Seriously I think the number of people that upgrade from 5870 to 6870 (stupidly) will be very small.
i am happy...6850 is at 5770 price range, and 6870 is between 5830 and 5850 price range...and it's faster...especially on dx11 as we all expected...so...AMD won this round...
More Naming Old New 5750->6850 5770->6870 Room for 6890 (dual 6870 card?) 5850->6950 5870->6970 5970->6990 If this is the case, I am guessing here, then the new number scheme allows for a upper midrange dual card. Like http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=330549&highlight=yeston
some guy has a retail 6850, so looks to be a hard launch on Friday, not sure about supply though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BcOnuCqWCc
I got friday off work and 500 bucks for a 6870 and a shopping spree on Steam. I just need to find the mini DP to DVI adapter locally and Im set. I just hope its available. I really dont care which brand I end up with. Just for kicks I ran Furmark on my 8800GT....16fps average...Woot. Gonna be a nice upgrade. Its like christmas.
you wouldnt need a miniDP to DVI unless you're planning on running eyefinity. the reference board has 2x mini DP, 1x HDMI and 2x DVI.
All I can say is that I probally will get one. If its close to the hd 5850/5870 then its a good upgrade for me. Im happy with my 5770 but its just not quite fast enough.
