And i thought there was alot of conflicing info around when the Fermi cards were due to be released.

Is €255 not a touch high for the 6870, how much are 5850/5870's or even the GTX470 in Germany/Holland etc.

We heard the 6870 would be 20% faster than a 1gb GTX460, so that sound like roughly the same as a GTX470, but there are now several different brands of GTX470's on sale for £211, with a few of them having with Mafia2 included, which works out as roughly €240.

cheapest 470 is around 289€ here and 5850 is 255€ and 5870 is around 380€ or so. so if this 250€ is like the price for 6870 its really nice price.

255€ sounds very cheap for 6870

    i can get a 470gtx for 265 -290€, 5850 is around that range too.. 5870 is still above 350-430€, lol 480gtx min 425€..

so if its really 1120sp that's 280cores (or old 1800sp =380 cores) instead of 240cores (or old 1600sp = 320), weird maybe its barts pro that has these 960sp lol, but it would make it as strong as 5870 or even faster..

3 days to go and still so much speculations xD:nerd:

It's cause they have estimate the card 250 euros = 250 dollars ..

250 dollars here is the price of the cheaper GTX460 1go...( with shop price) .

5850 its atm 220€ in spain online shops.

    and gigabyte 460 768mb its at 150€

6850 seems made directly to compete with 460s?

only difference between 6850 and 6870 its core frequency (125mhz and memory)?.

Suppose it is just an estimiate, just seems a touch steep when i can pick up a 5850 for the equivelent of €220, would also suggest no price drops for the 5800 cards.

But i will wait and see what it turns out to be in £ before making any direct comparisons.

    Would'nt it be 1400 old cores since 280 x 5 = 1400 ?

Agreed, theres a lot of speculation regarding the 6xxx series.

    240 cores - 4way or 960sp = 320 old cores - 5 way or 1600sp; its one and the same amount.

    add these 40 cores to old 320 its then 360cores or 1800sp compared to 280cores - 4way or 1120sp

HD5850 is running hot, has poor performance , and requires small power plant near by..

    Maybe thats why!?

    Oh, wait..

I had different card on my mind there.

    8 pin I'm assuming.

If Nvidia dropped a decent cooler on the card and clocked it higher with those extra shaders I bet they could hit a 35-45% increase in performance.

Doubt they will though. Also I can't wait for the inevitable 72371 complaint threads when they call it a GTX580.

agreed, especially with AMD rebranding the 5770s to 6770s, no-one can complain
