Hi. I have just bought the Dell u2711 monitor wich is capable of a 2560 x 1440 resolution http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=224-8284 and bought also an Asus 5870 Eyefinity 6/6S/2GD5 video card http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0iFu3KAtYDxmb080&templete=2 I've been told the only way to achive the full 2560 x 1440 is connecting the 5870 mini display port to the Dell u2711 Display port but this cnnection should be without any adapter. :wanker: So would you please guys tell what kind of connector should I buy/ I mean a regular mini display port to Display port cable would work or should I buy a " special kind of cable" :bang: Thank You very Much for your help
If you use a regular adaptor you dont get the full resolution. It is a known issue. I have read one must use an "active adaptor" whatever this may be. I guess if one uses a mini display port to display port cable it should work, but I am not sure. I hope some of you Guru Guys can give me the correct information
You don't get the full res when going from Mini DVI > DVI ? I would of thought there to be no problems. Unless it's a Dual Link issue? Seems strange to me and it should work.
Confused, That monitor has a Displayport connection, why would you not just use a normal mini-DP to DP cable? In fact it says on the site the cable comes with the card.
Thanks Omagana. That is my idea. I did not receive the monitor nor the video card yet. I have read in some forums people are having problems to achieve full resolution, and monitor doesnt coming back after sleep mode when using adaptors. Since I have to order adaptor/cable from abroad ans it will take some time for me to get them I am just trying to make sure I will do things right. Probably you are right. The regular cable you`ve shown will work. ( Hopefully )
