Hi there, I have the following configuration AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Asus M4A89GTD Pro 2x2GB Corsair AX750 HIS 5970 Dell U2410 Windows 7 - 64 bit fresh installed Since the beginning one of the GPUs is not working at all. GPU-Z reports that crossfire is disabled. CCC has a "primary adapter" and a "disabled adapter" in the graphics hardware screen. I run a game (triied GTA IV and Call of Duty 2) and Afterburner is showing just one of the GPUs working. I have tried with drivers 10.5, 10.9 and 10.9a. Each time passing driver sweeper, rebooting and so on. I have tried with AI in standard and advanced. I have changed the card to a different PCI-E port. I have also connected it to a power supply from a different computer. I don't have another computer where I can plug it. I don't have another operating system (maybe linux?). I´m right now trying to flash the bios, without success. Might it be that the card is just broken? Any help is appreciated, I'm certainly quite desperate now. Thanks guys, Sergio
right here is your problem i think. every time you install a driver or update a driver after that you need to reboot your system for the 2nd gpu to go from disabled to linked. if for some reason you driver sweeped then installed the driver then tryed to play it wouldnt work. though you probably already new that lol
AI in CCC is enabled, mode advanced. I have disabled it, rebooted, enabled (advanced) and rebooted twice... GPU BIOS is updated to the last version. Adapter is still disabled. I doubt is a software problem, I think I'm going to contact the provider, this is not normal at all. Thanks, Sergio
I also tried with those... nothing happened. I also did a fresh XP installation in a different disk, same issue. This is just too much, we are talking about a +500$ card that only works 50%. I have started a ticket with HIS. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for your help, Sergio
I had a similar issue like this before, try going into Bios and disabling a few devices, such as if you have an extra lan port, or extra usbs, 1394, etc.
if you updated your bios and did not do master and slave and set both gpus to master then that is the issue...
I did it... nothing happened. In any case, this are some of my bios settings that might have some influence and their present status: ai tweaker > gfx overclocking > internal graphics mode > disabled chipset > northbridge config > ecc mode > off 890gx > internal graphics configuration > fb location > above 4g 890 gx > primary video controller > pci-gfx0-gpp-igfx advanced pci/pnp settings > plug and play o/s > no Thanks, Sergio
So my last chance just vanished... I found a workmate who could test the card in his computer, but it doesn't fit in his case. I'm going to send it to RMA... I expect 4-6 weeks :-(. Bye! Sergio
oi mate i'm having a same sitaution as you..using XFX 5970 6 month's old..after 2 months i started getting problems like bsod couldn't install anything after 9.12 drivers..i tryed MILLION of configurations like bios update or format or fragment you name it i've done it in the last 4 months..gpuz says crossfire disabled and catalyst doesnt read second card at all..i guess i'l RMA it.. and in device manager i must manualy disable second card so that windows can normaly boot and i can update drivers..the moment i click on the disabled 5970 and click enable my system crashes..i think that 2gpu died..any opinions?
Can you show us a picture of your device manager. You may simply need to install the second display adapter manually.
It looks like you second GPU just died... My card is in RMA now. I'll keep you updated. Sorry to hear that. Good luck, Sergio
Is using just one slot... but still crossfire should be seen as active. This is a user with a 5970, from another forum...
