    Hi,

i've just SET up a new mobo and it BSOD just after login or sometimes just before, if i set MEM to XMP in the BIOS. I'm very new to the i7 arch so I'm not confident with everything yet.
    Could you plz help/explain me?

    My specs are :
    CPU i7 950
    Rampage 3 Extreme
    Corsair TW3X1600C8D ( XMP 1.65V 8-8-8-24-2T @ 1600) (was on the MB QVL)
    PSU Corsair HX-850

    Thanks

First thing I would try is disable XMP and then set your memory timings and voltage manually to Corsairs specs. Can you also post your multipliers and have you done any OC yet?

i7 950 is a piece of sh1t. I have one and can´t set bclk over 166 without bsod.

Try to set QPI at 1.35 volt or 1.375. Seems to be that have a crappy memory controler, like the most of 950´s.

If you set blck 133, then change the memory multi, not set xmp profile. Put manual, and 1600 memory. Then adjust the timmings.

If I set mem to DD3-1600, no problem it boot up just fine but with default timings (9-9-9-24-1T). I'll try to set the same timings as the XMP profile and see if it works.

What about the voltage ? I see that the absolut maximum is 1.65V for the DRAM otherwise it can seriously damage the CPU mem ctrl.
The value in my BIOS is whether > 1.65 or 1.64xx
Which one should I go for ? (when on XMP, it default to 1.65++)

No I haven't done any O/C and don't plan to do for the moment.

    Thanks

Set the mem voltage to Corsairs specs, and yes 1.65v is the maximum you should go.

Quick reply. I've pumped up the QPI from the 1.20 set by the XMP to 1.25 and so far it seems stable.
