So I was looking at some of eVGA's offerings and most have a lame 2 year warranty. You have to pay like an extra $40 for a lifetime. Wtf is this?

AFAIK you were only able to unlock POV GTX465 cards. Early ones, not sure if those are even sold anymore and if those unlock of not.

I would vote for that Palit GTX470.

if your dead set on spending 250+ then go for the 470. No point in paying more then 170$ for a 460 card.

And to buy a 460 card for 250$ no matter what brand it is, is not a good move. all 460 cards should reach 800/4000. and if you go for 850/4200 or beyond that, it will just be a hazzle for minimal gains. especially in 1920x1080.
Then its better to pay up for more sp and rops and what not.

I'll keep that in mind. Money actually is no objection this time around, although I'm going to try to limit myself.

Speak of the devil, I found a Sparkle GTX 470 for $280. It even has a lifetime warranty.

I really think I'm going to go for a 470, it's just too tempting to get that wider memory bus, more memory, more shader processors....

True, but noise insulating headphones factor out the noise problem, and the heat is whatever since my case has decent cooling.

I really wish Nvidia would come out with the GF 104 based 475 already, then I wouldn't be stuck in this predicament lol.

Good call. however remember what I said @ 1080p everything on even a unclocked gtx460 can pump up to 60fps in most games.

if your really set for fps then maybe go for a new motherboard and a gtx460 and have the option for SLI when the need comes.

Very little negative can be said about the GeForce GTX 460 768MB setup in SLI. In previous articles we have shown you guys already that the performance scaling of two GPUs is something the GTX 400 series is really good at. It was just that heat, noise and power consumptions became a constant nag. And that's just not the case with the excellent GF104 based GeForce GTX 460 cards.

I also had an 4850 before I upgraded and the difference is huuuge in games. Either way 470 is a great choice!

I very well might get a new motherboard and do 470 SLI later on, but we'll see. Really the only thing that made me favor the 470 is the price and the fact that most of the 460's I'm looking at look kinda cheaply made, I know they aren't but meh, I want something purdy looking (that's actually in my criteria lawl).

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll think it over one last time before I order on Monday.

Also, what kind of improvement did you see? This thing have served me faithfully for two years, but it's just not fast enough for the image settings I like to use.
