    I find the results quite odd compared to mine. I mean if you compare spec10 the maya results i got were way higher. It was also higher in spec11. But for ensight my does very badly where else yours shines. Mine is a mobility 5870... My card is actually the same board as a m7820. So its not exactly the same as a desktop 5870. Very odd..

    I played a bit with maya and max. about 100 pCubes with a lot divisions (1.500.000 faces) runs very smooth. very strange...

    But in spec10 both max and maya mine has higher scores. When i believe i should have lower scores since yours is a much more powerful card. Oh and just wondering, why don't u mod your 8800?

    I thought the 8800 was the last card able to mod. I'm not too sure about this. But i believe thats what i read.

    I believe the 8800 was the first card that was unpatchable hehe

    Edit: its possible with the gtx, i'll try it tomorrow :)

    Hi, I'm new to the forum and I really need some help!

    I have an studio xps with the Radeon HD 4670 which I'm trying to softmod. I have tried all day to mod it to Firepro 7750 but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm not getting any errors and my card shows up as a firepro 7750 but it's not even close to an improvement. Viewport 2.0 still doesn't work in Maya 2011 and hardware rendering has stopped working all together. Otherwise I notice no difference whatsoever in improvement. I didn't do any benchmarks before so I have nothing to compare against but I'm pretty sure the viewport in Maya is even slower now.

    I would love some help. Is the Firepro 7750 my best choice or should I try something else. Which patchscript and driver version should I use?

    I also wonder exactly how I check my GPU device ID, I'm pretty certain I have found it but I'm not sure I used the right one.

    The driver version I'm using now is FirePro_8.743.

    I would love any suggestions! :)

    edit: I would also like to add that I'm getting full HD resolution in Windows 7 home premium 64bit, if that helps.

    Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm curios about the patchscript for version 8.723. This is what the script says:

    ; script for win7_x64 driver 8.72

    DstVar0 = force ATI FireGL V5600 capabilities

    Src0 = B8 94 00 00 00 E8 86 5B 00 00 3B C5 74 46

    Could I just change this to:

    DstVar0 = force ATI FirePro 7750 capabilities

    Or something like that. Or how should I modify it?

    You have to change it. Whats the id of your card?

    I'm pretty certain that my id is 9488.

    Ill paste the whole script here, I would really appreciate if you could make the changes necessary in bold or something.

    in this line there are four digits that represent the device id of the graphics card.

    Quote:
    Dst2_0 = BA 2E 00 00 00 48 8B CB E8 F2 A4 FF FF C7 03 0A 94 00 00 90 90

    the device id of my hd 2600 mobility card is 9581. coresponding to the script the digits would need to look like this 95 81. now i have two pairs of numbers that needed to be swapped from 95 81 to 81 95.

    the edited line in the script would need to look like this now :
    Quote:
    Dst2_0 = BA 2E 00 00 00 48 8B CB E8 F2 A4 FF FF C7 03 88 94 00 00 90 90

    Change it from 9488 into 88 94

    That I did. Do I need to make any changes to this line or doesn't this matter:

    DstVar0 = force ATI FireGL V5600 capabilities

    Am I right in looking in the drivers information tab and choosing hardware ID (translated from swedish version of windows 7 so I'm not sure it's exactly the correct word) I get this:

    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488&SUBSYS_02FE1028&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488&SUBSYS_02FE1028
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488&CC_0300

    Am I right guessing that my ID is 9488 based on this information?

    Thanks alot for the fast answers!

    Your doing a great job! :) However, you totally lost me with this. I don't knwo if I just tired or something, but I can't figure what I'm suppose to do with your latest reply. :bang:

    As you might have noticed already, I'm in way over my head with this. I just really really want to improve my Maya experience so I can't seem to give up.

    Anyway, I'm going to bed now so I can rise bright and early tomorrow to try and figure this out. Any addiditional help would be deeply appreciated.

    to

    "ATI FireGL V5600" = ati2mtag_RV630GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488"

    This should work provided your device ID is 9488 like you mentioned.

    Oh, now I get it. I'm still unsure about the whole:

    DstVar0 = force ATI Mobility FireGL V8800 capabilities (from your post)
    or
    DstVar0 = force ATI FireGL V5600 capabilities (from the correct patchscript).

    Shouldn't I try to force Firepro 7750 which is the drivers I'm trying to install? Or is this line just to make it easier to choose right in rivatuner? The older versions of the patchscript had like 10 different variables, one for each GPU model but the 8.723 version only contains the "orce ATI FireGL V5600 capabilities" variable.

    Thanks for your patience in answering my dumb questions!

    Have another question. Where can I download the 8,723 drivers? The links I try all takes me to amds support site where it says:

    Unauthorized Download

    We're sorry, but this download request cannot be authorized.

    Edit: Or can I use the newer firepro_8.743.3 driver with the same patchscript?

    Oh sorry about that... Its because i just took the script directly from mine and just changed the device ID for you. You can just edit that to what ever you want your card to be called. Let me upload it then give you a link for it. You might have to wait a while as my upload speed here is quite bad. If your lucky its done within an hour. If not i'll have to upload when i get home.
