Ok so I have an AMD motherboard M4A78 Pro. Atm I got an 4850 graphics card but I am planing on replacing it with an GTX 460 764mb card. Now my brother said geforce cards wont work on this AMD motherboard. Is this humbug? cause I allready need to buy a new PSU for the GTX 460 card. And buying a new motherboard aswell just feels painful.
LOL!! That would be a very stupid thing on AMD's part if they did this. Brand or chip manufacturer does not matter, as long as you have a pci-e X16 port. The only limitation is you wont be able to run SLI on an AMD board unless you have one of those nvidia chipsets.\ I thought modded SLI drivers only existed for the intel P3x and P4x series motherboards?
Great news !!! All I want is to be able to run Mafia 2 with some physX active. SLI is not anything Im looking to be doing atm
At this site. They're saying that it works with AMD chips, although with recent drivers, I have seen nothing but problems. Even with the 'fixes' they've put out to address the black screen issues.
Like others have said, only SLI will not work on a AMD motherboard. The AMD drivers will only cover the chipset, and maybe some onboard video if the motherboard has it.
