i have raid 0 setup and cant get my dvd drive to boot first so it can see my win7 dvd. i have a sata dvd drive. is this the problem? sense my raid is on my sata also?
Just set your DVD drive as the 1st boot device, and you'll be fine. like so: 1st boot device: DVD-Drive 2nd Boot Device HDDRaid 3rd Boot device: Disable or USB
i do. still won't work unless i go into bios\ intergrated peripherals \raid configeration\ in sata operation mode and change raid to ide. then dvd boots first. but win7 sees my drives now as 2 drives not 1 and asks me which drive to install windows on. if this matters, i have my hd's on sata 1&2 and my dvd drive on sata 3.
So you went into the bios and made the dvd drive boot first? If you are still having issues, did you think that perhaps your dvd drive is messed up? Did you try the boot selection option at post?
Only if you want it to look different. Move the DVD drive to the top of the list in the BIOS setup for boot priority. Use page up/page down keys.
I meant SATA 2 & 3 on the motherboard, but in the bios it shouldn't really matter which connectors you have it plugged into. Just how you have the boot sequence arranged.
ok......it worked! here is what i did. i changed them in my case. i put my dvd drive on sata 1 as pri-master my hd's on sata 2&3 as pri-slave & sec-slave then disabled sec-master then rebuilt array rebooted and my dvd drive lanched win7 win7 sees my hd's as 1 not 2 anymore thanks gurus.
quick ? will windows format my drives before install? or did that get taken care of when i rebuilt my array? reason im asking is i had a few viruses on my drives and want them gone. its showing win7 taking up 9 gigs...... is that right?
You can format the drives before installing windows, when you select the drive you want windows on, hit the format button, then next to install windows.
