    I don't seem to be having much luck with PSU's of late and wondered if anyone can help me (again) lol :p

    I've been playing Just Cause 2 recently and noticed it kept crashing (BSOD) and random freezes.. I investigated game setting problems other were having I thought it was that, BUT.. Even when im not playing the game now my rig seems to be crashing randomly 2-3 times a day even when its not doing anything.

    PSU = XFX 650watt XXX Edition 2 week old.

    Win7 64bit.
    All drivers and Bios upto date.

    +12v = 12.30v
    +5v = 5.12v
    +3.3v = 3.44v <---
    CPU Temp 28-40c
    MB Temp 28-34c

    Everything is running stock, no overclocks.

    Any ideas guys? I don't have a volt meter to check it..

    Completely unacceptable. I'd be RMAing.

    I thought something seemed wrong, what are the optimal settings for a quality brand PSU?

    [EDIT]

    Just found this..

    So do you think I should send it back then?

    How did you get those readings? The BIOS isn't really accurate on those, plus was it under load?
    Cause it drops under load. Think you should check some more than just your PSU.
    Like the motherboard.

    the only thing that looks "weird" is 3.3v line; mine is always around 3.23v.. im not sure if its suppose to go beyond 3.3v.

    If you mess around with computer hardware very often it's invaluable to have a PSU tester. You can get one with a LCD display for under $30. It may not be worth it for everyone, but they sure are nice to have and they work great too.

    Your PSU looks ok from those voltage figures, all are within 5% (are within the ATX spec).
    The 3.3V is 4% out but theres no point in worrying about those readings.
    To know what the voltages really are, you must get hold of a voltage meter and check them.
    A SATA power lead has the connections you need.
    Black = ground
    Orange = +3.3V
    Red = +5V
    Yellow = +12V

    Chances are this isnt a PSU problem.
    My first suspect is memory.
    Set your voltage to 1.9V if the spec allows.

    My Ocz Platinum defaults at 1.7V but is wildly unstable. 1.8V is much better but still has problems. 1.9V is perfect.
    The max voltage in spec is 2.1V.
    I have some ram here that will not even run at 1.7V, its a bugger to get going if the CMOS gets reset!
    Please your ram :)

    Thanks to everyone again for all your comments, it really does help!

    Cheers muff, you really are the king of PSU knowledge :) My OCZ is rated at 1.8v, but i'll check to see if I can raise it.

    I'll get a multi meter soon and i'll get on to checking the bluescreen logs, its BSOD'ing when idle now, very strange!

    Glidefan, I checked my rig underload and the voltages don't drop hardly at all. I got the readings from an Asus app + Bios.

    [EDIT]

    I just checked the bluescreen logs and it's not logged one since 11th July :S

    I'm just saying that the BIOS doesn't correctly read the power sometimes.
    You'd better use a multimeter to be sure.
