So the 10.7 Catalyst drivers include DXVA2 hardware acceleration then? It also sounds very much like the drivers are being released today after all. Hope it's true.
VLC by far, its one of the best media players out there for video. It contains nearly every codec ever made. Every time a friend of mine says they have a problem playing a video file on their PC I point them toward VLC and they never look back.
Where does this version come from? On the official page, I can still only find 1.1.0. Is it a nightly build? Edit: Seems it's already online. You can download it by editing the download link from VLC-HP. Here's the direct-link for the installer: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/files/1.1.1/win32/vlc-1.1.1-win32.exe/download Edit2: Video Acceleration still not working. Even not with TwL's modified drivers. Waiting for Catalyst 10.7...
Seems a bit of a coincidence that a new version of VLC is released with 10.7 driver support on the day that said drivers were rumoured to be released. I think the drivers will be released today myself as it's been over a month since the 10.6 drivers came out.
This is good news, i love VLCPlayer, although, recently i have just been using Boxee because i can keep track of what i have seen and haven't seen
No driver this week, seems to be released on the next week, close to end of the month. and i hope it won't be the truth.
I do use both but in my opinion MPC-HC is far better work with AMD cards and also i like VLC too because u can play broken video files (any) with this player which MPC-HC sometime wont be able to play at all. Thats where VLC shines for me. cheers for both video player developers.
oh - Terry (CatMaker) gave DJ_Casper an answer about 10.7 and if they will be released today. Not Today.. http://twitter.com/CatalystMaker/status/19082420595
The new Splash Player looks to be a good contender, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and haven't wanted to move back to VLC.
