im just checking this model atm and yea they claim up to 30% OC, and if i take their 715mhz into account its around 930mhz, not bad.. has almost the same pixel and higher texture fillrate as 480gtx lol

The Geforce GTX 460 isn't a cut down 470, unlike the 465 [it's on a new die GF 104, and is shorter, whereas the 465 is exactly the same as the 470, except that some models only have 8 Ram chips, and can't be unlocked to a full 470].

Interesting ECS card there, would go nice with my mobo :)

But I would go with EVGA. Been good to me so far.
I know there are differences, but really it boils down to personal opinion.

OK, the person saying the Gainward is good.

Sorry but you are very very mistaken.

The Gainward is EXACTLY the same card as the Palit Sonic Platinum.

Gainward is actually part of the Palit brand.

The card PCB, cooler, fan, everything is identical.

    Gainward:

    Palit:

    Look familiar?

The retail cards don't come with a VRM cooler, just like the Palit cards that are being reported on the front page.

The cooler is noisy, small, and inefficient.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

    avoid XFX after service sucks.

Personally i'd go with the cheapest one and buy an accelero x2 pro cooler and stick it on it vram cooling solved.

P.S for future reference if you want people round here to help you be less agressive and stop calling everyone fanboi's. you'll find people alot more helpful.

Read the very end of the same review.

I have the card. Well did until yesterday when I sent it back for a refund. I know exactly what the retail product is like, and its cooling is not good in any way shape or form.

The performance is excellent, don't have a problem with the cards speed. It is the cheap poor quality GPU cooler, loud fan, and poor fan profiles I have beef with.

Oh and the whole is there a VRM sink, is there not a VRM heatsink thing.

well, dear aduh, there is no gainward or palit in the list cause they about the same, like the nice guy named HeXadecimal allready said...

@ danroyle i thought about that..are there allready aftermarkt cooler out for the GTX460? if yes then i know im going to buy one, cause im using one now and im very happy with aftermarket solutions from arctic cooling..

so it looks like the EVGA sc gtx460 is the way to go..i also think that they have an great quality..

still i want to wait till i see any info or review on The ECS Black gtx460, cause it just looks so impressing ;)

do you guys know if you can use the msi afterburner volt tweak on Evga´s gtx460 Card?

And of course, thank you all for all these replys, i really appreciated !!

Guru is the way to go ;)

(feel free to post more if you want, i´ll take every info i´ll get hehe..)

OK BetA13 please accept my apologies. I didn't know about that missing VRM cooling on Palit and Gainward cards - that's really sucks. Now I admit you'r right - GD and PT are worst choice ...

In this case I think EVGA will be top choice BUT I'm not sure about these cooling system on 1GB models (old NV type cooler - dryer).
I fear that it might be loud .

I hope u can answer me that question and show me an Pic of an naked Retail Card where u can see that there are Coolers. Greetings, Alex

EVGA or go home, life time warrantie, blows hot air out of the case, EVGA presision, OC scanner, and to top it off the best CS I have ever used.

EVGA won't need a VRM sink as the fan is right over the top of them sucking the hot air away.

That said the blower cooler will be louder than the Giga or MSI cards.

    So depends what you want.

Air dumped out your rig, or quieter card.

Personally I don't care about air being dumped in my rig as i've got good case airflow. So it's a non issue for me.

EVGA do have superb customer service however.

same here. i have an good airflow too, so i dont care about if its in or out the case, cvause the hot air gets sucked out right away from the 120 mm fan @ the side....

I'm leaning towards the gigabyte model. I don't care about heat being dumped in my CM690 case, I have pretty good cooling. But then again I've always been a fan of EVGA cards.

I had a Gigabyte 6600GT that had a really cheap cooler on it. Terrible thing, I slapped a VF700-cu on it and it dropped the temps by 20C! But the reviews on their GTX 460 with this custom cooler have been promising, and the price on NewEgg isn't bad, $235. Besides I've had two MoBos from them and haven't had any issues.

the high end Palit 1GB model is back in at NewEgg I've noticed.

    update:
I pulled the trigger on the Gigabyte model.

Well Palit, you didn't get my money.

Interested to hear what you think of Giga's cooler, especially the load fan noise.

    I ordered 2 x 460 1 Gb OC from Gigabyte aswell.

Been googling and reading for a few days, and it really seems they are great when it comes to cooling and noiselevels.

( It MIGHT be a downgrade from a GTX 295 (( I know someone will point it out )) but I had the GTX 295 for awhile now, and the noiselevels on load is simply WAY too much for my liking - What can I say, I am getting older and more picky).
