What resolution do you game at?
Like Tommy said in post 2, get the GTX 460 unless ur on a 30 inch monitor.
You will also save on power consumption.

agreed. I removed one of the 295's from the main rig and am using it now on another rig. quad sli is not really practical for games u do get an increase but the power to performance ratio is bad.

im confused, someone said above that the 295 can do nvidia surround all by itself? no need for a second one?

    2 460's are faster than a 480 for $50-$100 cheaper.

The 470 is an option in its price bracket but 2x 900mhz 5770's would be faster at that price point, though I wouldn't purchase anything at that price point since for another $50-60 you could use the sli 460's again.

I have been going through the same thing. Upgrade now ? and to what ?

I decided to wait a while. The 485 should be out soon. Or so they say.

I'd wait, see what happens to prices. Or like me get a 485 when they come out. I might even go the ATI 5970 ? See how the new 485 stacks up against it. when i do upgrade, i want the fastest single card.

i went for the 295 in the end not too worried about power consumption just want performance. My 5870 has started grey screening again now so the 295 has had to go on the credit card while i try and get xfx to fix/replace the 5870

Cheers for all your help guys i did take it all onboard but the 460 is just too far behind my 5870 if i got one i'd regret it in a month or two
