Nothing wrong with that. I see so many people over here in uk, that try hardest to get a suntan, but for me is not something i want, i do prefer to have fair skin, as was intended for me. More than 10 mins in the sun, i burn anyway. Now, how about multicolours, like green/blue etc. As much fun as modding pcs then.
I walk the fine line between having tattoos and still wanting to tan. If I get scorched, it hoses the ink. So I have to have an "almost tan" or else I ruin a lot of tattoo work. :/
They should be happy they don't have fair skin. At least they can go outside for more than 10 minutes without getting sun burnt.
Black people get burnt too, and they get skin cancer as well, the tolerance to UV rays for people with dark skin is barely better than ours. You just can't see the sun burn... But as for people with dark skin sunbaking...that's about as useful as putting a hole in your microwave door and cranking it up for a few minutes while staring into it... it does nothing but harm...and makes no sense...yet hairy olive skin italians...love to get their budgie smugglers on and go to town on the beach * shivers*
Yeah that's most of the problem with sunburn. You get **** for being pale and then you get sunburnt because you actually like going outside and people give you **** for being sunburnt.
I admit I have limited knowledge of India, however according to my recollection the caste system in India used to incorporate skin tone as indicative of a social class. If you were born with dark pigmentation you were SOL in the very deepest of ****. I won't hasten to condemn this as I don't particularly care what somebody does with their looks, but I think it's a foolish assumption to view this as innocuous. eta: He's just troll'n
There is a solution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wS5xOZ7Rq8 If it's a choice between skin cancer and social praise from overtanned 60 I.Q blondes...i'll take the paleness.
I'm just curious what it is in our psyche that makes us always stride to be something we are not. As an extremely pale person I like being a bit tan, not to the point where I go out & sit in the sun, but welcome having one. Other's literally risk their lives to go tanning on a regular basis. Clearly there is a market for a skin-lightening product and we have seen people like Sosa use it. Is this just part of a subconscious survival strategy left over from our ancestors meant to keep us from being content? There must be a scientific reason why we do such things, since man has been doing it back as far as we can find, it's clearly not a new phenomenon.
I wouldnt say i was totally odd, but workmates do think im a vampire, But whos to say sun is good and rain is bad, i like the rain the same as those that like the sun. fortunately people see me for person i am, not about my pale skin, which i like. i may look like a Polar bear, if i used that cream... Ha Ha.
I went swimming today, now I am tanned and sunburned I fully agree with you, that's why I made this thread! I mean come on! A facebook app that makes your skin lighter! What's next, a gender changing app!
THIS! I do have insight on this, because my parents are from India. I'm absolutely disgusted by this. Whitening creams sell EXTREMELY well in India, and major Bollywood actors/actresses promote them. The creams are HORRIBLE for your health, but people flock to get them. Why? Because people judge your beauty very harshly over there - the lighter skinned you are, the more attractive you are. It's built-in racism in the culture - if you're dark, you're ugly. I know families where the parents got married heavily because the to-be spouse wasn't dark-skinned. Many cultures already have the lighter-skin-is-better mentality, but the mentality here flourished under British rule. British colonists treated dark-skinned people like vermin in India, and really propagated the idea that fairer skin means more attractiveness. It's really bad for Indian's mental health (and physical health - you should see the effects of using this ****ty cream on the skin years later), and it makes my blood boil. - PR-0927
I take your long post, and replace "whitening cream" with "tanning lotion". Now you can read it the other way around.
