What is SLI Mod ? - Ability to use SLI on Crossfire motherboards, using modded/hacked drivers.

SLI Mod 0.8b / No Driver Problems:
    ForceWare 257.15

SLI Mod 0.8b / Few Driver Problems:
    ForceWare 257.21 WHQL
ForceWare 257.41 WHQL from Microsoft Update http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=325912

SLI Mod 0.8b / Massive Driver Problems:
    ForceWare 258.69
    ForceWare 258.96
(haven't tested the first 259 drivers)
    ForceWare 259.32

    ForceWare 260.61
    ForceWare 260.63
No random symptoms, 260 drivers simply BSOD with nvlddmkm.sys error.

Games work few minutes, then something happens... Black screen, BSOD, CTD or freeze. Even surfing flash content sites crashes the rig.
Black screens can be recovered from by switching DVI ports, or you manage to close the 3D app, and rig stays stable after this.
Time to failure is between 5 and 30 minutes, 5 to 15 minutes is the most usual though.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    * 258.96 x64 driver hacks:
Install regular 258.96 x64 Win7 or Vista, apply hack...SLI Mod works with 258 drivers. Hacks are few hours old, improvements coming all the time, new games and Vantage fps problems fixed. Revision 3 fixed gpu mode switches and gpu usage.
    http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=60844&page=148

    * SLI Patch 0.9a released (unsure about 32bit versions, especially XP): Works with any original ForceWare driver.

Thanks for the thread, would I be able to use my GTX295 and say a GTX260 for Physx? I'm thinking of this setup for Mafia 2.

Yes. Just select which card physx will use in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Basically it's a patch you install, which fools Nvidia graphics drivers into thinking your motherboard is X58 with sli support, works on any motherboard that has 2x 16x pci-e slots. Was only matter of time before Nvidia started to prevent it from fully working in newer drivers.

Right then, time to buy a second hand Nvidia card.... what do you guys suggest for a Physx dedicated GPU? I have a GTX295 at the moment.

+1 Add myself to the list , last stable drivers are 257.15 as you stated and i can confirm ,

SLI Mod(0.8b Beta) working 100% stable with drivers 257.15 on this rig:

    Asus P5Q-Pro Turbo
    Q6600 @ 3.7Ghz
    2x2 DDR2 @ 990 5-5-5-15
    2x 9600GT @ 750/1900/1020 in SLI Mod(0.8b Beta)(working flawlesly with 257.15 Drivers)
    windows 7 x64bit
    Auzentech Forte X-fi 7.1 on G-51 Speakers
    Silverstone OP 1000w
Everything inside a Thermaltake Armor Case well ventilated and cool running.
Thanks for starting this tread BartonC+++
It would be nice if everyone running this mod posted specifications and screenies of the hardware and software used in order to build a database.

Here's from the website, I was going to pm this to you Barton:

"Now, we understand the principle of SLI certification, so we can find similar pieces of code and modify any later drivers released by NVIDIA, before the release of new protection methods from NVIDIA which is only a matter of time."

It seems we just have to wait for them to update the patch. I'm glad you started this thread!

I've used the SLI patch to try and enable Hybrid SLI on my board but it didn't work for me...

    Hi,

I took a liberty to quote this problems when using SLImod with Forceware 258.xx drivers to one of the SLImod developers anatolymik here:
    http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=60844&page=134

For now he thinks that the problem is in SLI bug by Forceware itself not a conflict with their mod. There are similar black screen issues with official SLI setups on an official nvidia forum.

I can also add that I successfully used SLIMod 0.7 with GTX 470 SLI on an GA-790XT-UD4P and Forceware 257.21 without any problems.

Now I'm on nforce 980a cause I wanted to see the difference when I swap from dual x8 pci-e mobo without bridge to dual x16 with SLI bridge.

The gain is approximately 10% in benchmark scores so even with high-end nvidia graphic cards you don't loose much if you're running SLI on unsupported chipset without SLI bridge.

Pill , maybe your chipset its not supported ? i dont know :/ , i would like to help you out but it is out of my knowledge. Try asking Tin in TechPowerUp on the same tread bacan posted.

    Here - http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=60844&page=134

or in Xtreme Systems - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=4470600#post4470600

(I just bumped the tread so that you can ask any questions to TiN in Xtreme Systems)

@bacan , thank you for your good intentions and trying to help , appreciated :).

Are you installing it correctly? Are you seeing "SLI Enabled" in your boot menu?

Yeah thanks anyway dude but I'm gonna get rid of this POS board and get an AMD chipset.

You might be right about no support though, the site doesn't have any nforce compatible boards listed...

I tried the 0.1 release a few months ago and it corrupted my boot sector, so yeah, kinda says something....:D

    Pill,

You didn't carefully read what is Hybrid SLI and what modes it has:
    http://www.nvnews.net/articles/hybrid_sli_interview/index.shtml

Your board is Asus M3N78Pro with integrated Geforce8200.
    http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/m3n78pro/2.htm

    Hybrid SLI modes:

    1.Boost - only works with these 2 cards, nvidia 8400GS or 8500GT
2.Power - works with all cards from 9800GTX till now

1.If you got one of these cards 8400GS or 8500GT you can enable classic SLI, in this way called Hybrid SLI Boost and that's it. You'll get some fps boost but those cards are really slow anyway so it's pointless.
2.This mode serves to put your discrete card to sleep when it's idle and instead use integrated gpu for complete 2D usage and etc. It also enables 4 monitor setup for those who need it and that's it.

8800GTX doesn't support mode 1 or mode 2, so you have to continue working and playing like you did before. No Hybrid SLI for you.

SLIMod doesn't have any link to this Hybrid SLI.
It only does the trick to enable regular SLI between 2 identical nvidia cards in the motherboard that is only Crossfire certified out of the box. It can be intel chipset or AMD and that's all.

I hope that this text helped you.

    Cheers

Thx mate but I didn't come down in the last shower, I'm painfully aware of the shortcomings of Hybrid SLI - it is the very reason I tried the hack in the first place.

Sorry to be blunt, but really... give me at least some credit...it was an experiment.;)

My board has an 8300 IGP which can do CUDA and Physx, although not very well..

I am currently running The SLI MOD W/ (2) GTX260`s and the 258.49 drivers with Win 7 64 Bit with no problems. Tried both the 258.69 & 259.96 and neither one will work.
Anyone have any ideas on this ?
