NVIDIA 258.96 is out!

Feedback sounding good. Will definitely install theses when I get home, download was fast.

 

No problem here on more reasonable AA levels (x4, x8).

 

Are you using HDMI?

 

Still having black textures on distant buildings with Assassin's Creed II... That's a glitch related to 256 series (in combination with GTX4X0 cards) and still ignored and not corrected by nVidia...

Working fine, Grid still will not load with NV surround, but thats probably going to have to be patched by codemasters.

 

yep flash is fixed, i opened 3 480p at the same time and no crashes or freezes.

 

This has happened to me as well....I thought that my new main monitor was faulty.

 

well for my 275 this driver is very good, i was also using the 258 quadro's as certain games crashed with any other 257/258 drivers all games i have tested today have improvements over the quadro driver

just cause 2, metro 2033, moh beta and wow all work fine

give em a whirl

yay! no more constant youtube video driver crashes.

 

I personally got "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." and had to hard reboot.

More than once... will reinstall the driver on top of itself just in case and test again.

 

a little update, the drivers are superb, but i'm not impressed with the image quality, the 257.21 whql had the best IQ of any forceware i tried, textures were sharp and more defined and i can say this with 100% certainty (at least on my rig), i'm well aware of the placebo effects and with the 257.21 it wasn't placebo.

on the other hand the new 258.96 drivers cleaned some of those occasional textures shimmering (or moire') in some games better so textures look smoother, its a good compromise, maybe the next set will have the IQ of 257.21 and the performance of 258.69

also the trilinear optimization (on/off) is back or is it my immagination?

 

no, with SLI @ 2048x1152 rez, the only game that made me oc my cards is Metro 2033 @ Very High.... otherwise they're at factory settings.

Rig froze when I was reading this thread. WHY is 257.15 stable and 258.xx not ? Who else has similar issues with SLI (with and w/o SLI mobo) ?

 

Tested them but I didn't see any real improvement over the 257.21 I was using, but think main issue is my CPU bottlenecking my GPU. Due to that doubt I will see any real improvements till I get rid of that bottleneck.

I did have 1 issue with this driver it's giving wierd graphical glitches with NFS Shift and I am wondering if anyone else with Shift could check to see if they get it too. I had it shrink the view once where I had black border around the game then there was the color scheme went all tie-dye on me.

 

Flash crash is present. I opened another flash window and dragged it to another monitor and I got black screens but no error, they are closer...

 

Top drivers here too on my GTX295 - even better than 197.45

 

played shift 3 different races, no problem here.

 

Haven't had a chance to play any games yet, but I had a slight increase in my GPU score in vantage:

GPU scores performance preset (stock gtx 470 clocks):

197.75: 13752
258.49: 14854
258.96: 14984

 

Can someone check to see if the ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead profile is in this set? Thx.
