?

Should the Official INF be modified or not ?

    Well all people have to know in order to not get that blue screen error is that the VGA display thing MUST be showing. If not, post instructions on how to get it back.

    I'd like to really thank you though for these drivers. I got rid of 10.6 (new one) and my VGA display was still there so I rebooted after installing 10.4 and I must say after testing it that it goes even FASTER then the last driver did. I get 400 points over all added on to my FF14 benchmark then I did with normal 10.3. Thanks a ton.

    TwL would it be possible to give OpenCL/DirectCompute support to HD 3000 series? I know that ATI says it lacks necessary hardware features but I've read that someone wrote a Linux driver that enables OpenCL on every card since the x1900.

    well, if we hack it in real time I would need to build new DLL which I have no source code to.

    -edit-

    Or perhaps we can 'loan' an dll from NVIDIA, lol. Wonder would that actually work clean up, hmmm, gonna add my thinking cap on this a bit. :nerd:

    Yeah, I know it looks like incredible much text and couple some screens in between, but I just cannot get the information to smaller space.
    So try'd to include simply 'quick install guide' and links on bottom. :pc1: :3eyes:

    @commonly

    Found out an reason for catalyst slowdowns:
    * Issue was 'NVIDIA Card'-monitor.
    If anyone else is having slow downs. Just disable > remove NVIDIA card monitor and that will fix the slowness of catalyst. (PhysX will still work OpenCL however will not.)

    OpenCL:
    It is increasing rapidly on NVIDIA side I tested the 258.21 OpenCL and now testing, atm, the 258.49. I am still out of luck for the moment.
    These are no good drivers for 'ATI Hybrid setups' even, if they would be fixed on PhysX side.

    I will probably be improving the "10.4a" experimental to be an core release later this week and as what goes to "10.6" experimental.
    That I'll take a look on again later as soon I got some material. Perhaps ATI will release more stable OpenGL 4.0 driver as well by time it's done.

    but as anyone can see 10.4a is actually really damn fast as an 'driver' when tweaked a bit it's actually faster than 10.6.

    Clean-Up bug:
    Seems the latest Experimental Build came with an bug in clean-up .cmd file. However, but is really minor (I didn't verify >nul). So just answer 'NO' for the last
    question should deal with this, but even answering 'YES' doesn't harm it only jumps to the question again.
    (Fixing asap or to next release.)

    What is the Dolphin Emulator? Is that a Gamecube emulator? If so where can I get that from? And do the games work ok with it, I had one before and some games would have graphical glitches and others would just run very very slow.

    The Dolphin is a Gamecube/Wii emulator. They have their own website. If you are going to use it, at least own the games your emulating please. I hate when people relate emulation to piracy.

    seems that there is a bug (probably with amd) probably what you mentioned about AMD mobo's, that caused me to run into a BSOD that also BSOD into safe mode. I did restore from before cleaning the ati drivers, did the same thing to step 4, just decided to use driver sweeper

    rebooted installed, rebooted and the drivers work great, i didnt have to touch nvidia stuff at all, physx was working as before

    http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/physx_fluidmark_score_120.php?id=d556cdb75b2d710beb58b513477a1587

    the geforce 240 scores about 35 sps while cpu does 9

    btw im too lazy to update my sys specs, but its win7 64bit ati 5850 with geforce 240 ddr5 runing PII X3 unlocked X4 at 3.4ghz

    No AMD drivers are touched. Only ATI drivers, if you read the CMD through a bit you'll see only thing there is is 'HKLM\software\AMD' and added removal of amd pcom which
    has anything to do with 'AMD'. There is no way in this world this specific bug is in the cmd, If AMD systems can't handles an clean driver drop differently that's difference between
    there 2 systems. Just because you got 1 time functional system doesn't mean it works for everyone as I know there was BSOD even without clean-up by simply ATI driver
    uninstall and that was caused by 'older drivers' not an clean-up. How the hell it is possible to even have an situation where you cannot get to 'safe mode' is boyond me, if
    it would be an 'cmd' fault surely it would print 'Driver XXXXX.sys caused BSOD' and not just cause hang as people here are telling me.

    If you can replicate the issue let me know.

    Here is full, atm, CMD file as code box where you can see it doesn't touch the AMD data at all:
    Code:
    @echo off
    color A
    echo.

    echo :  BEFORE PROCEEDING                                        :

    echo : Please make sure that you have UNINSTALLED all drivers :
    echo : you are about to remove through windows at programs and :
    echo : features before continuing further. :

    my bad I didnt mean to say that it does or doesnt as i dont have clue i was only referring to your thread i meant to mention that the amd mobo discussion thats all. I was just saying that I had a BSOD :) and it BSOD'ed when i wanted to go into safe mode too... which i thought was completely strange

    it might have something to do with windows when you tell it to delete the drivers? i dont know its a possibility? OR with ATI's own uninstaller ?

    all i know is that windows 7 couldnt fix it and only option i had was restore point

    which i tried to be a bit more careful and just cleaned with driver sweeper, yes I made an assumption and its probably wrong :p it probably has nothing to do with your driver cleaner at all

    Oh dont worry I am a massive Nintendo fan and I own still to this day about 30 Gamecube games, imho one of the best consoles ever since the SNES.

    Didnt have many games but most of them were amazing!

    Well, if I could get someone with AMD motherboard to copy me here 'as code' same way 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AMD' <- registry key exported.
    I would know in same instance is it the cmd or not.

    There is instability on some cases on Intel systems too exactly same spot, but everytime I can reproduce this issue. The problem is BSOD does
    show some random system driver failure or some random BSOD message which could of been caused by anything and never anything
    about AMD or ATI like it would be just System instability while shaking the driver base.

    The thing that someone cannot go to 'Safe mode' is one thing as that would load up drivers set by last reboot, but even in this case the 'Use
    the Last known Good Login' would work as that actually would restore so the services as well as drivers as they were in last 2 reboots ago, but to
    consider some people said you can't enter 'safe mode' this would mean that while loading up without driver either the system would be so
    unstable (which is then AMD motheboard fault clean) or in the base where it "drops driver load list in screen" and fail there would be because
    something would be missing what it wants to load but even in this scenario it would say that 'file <something> is missing' not just BSOD.
    BSOD would be an internal driver checkup, if such would happen there and on this case it would also be 'AMD Motherboard' faulty not the clean-up.

    I think the core issue here really is that before this people has not been used to clean up their boxes as they should and the issue on AMD
    motherboards is the 'Windows System Files Integrity Check'-driver loaded in end of entire driver load list. It's the only reasonable explain unless we
    find something really damn weird on that AMD registry key.

    Hi TwL, pls cleanup your private messages - it is overquota.

    Here is my report from testing last night:

    I trust in you that you made some serious tweaks on the latest driver set. And as I reported, the V2.91 10.4 have been the fastest drivers in games both CFX On and Off.
    My meaning of 'benefit' is, that CFX On should be faster than CFX Off. Now I have tested both new builds v2.91 and in Crysis and Dirt2 CFX Off is surely much faster than CFX On.
    That is just the truth. On single screen I can make those games fly on 4 GPU's - but tripple screen is still not solved for these games.
    Grid, Hawx and Risen - CFX On is now surely solved for these games.

    Tested 10.6 V2.91: I didn't give you a report last night, because I had too many crashes, when tested the new build. Tried Vantage 3 times - always lockup on 1st CPU Test (multiple planes test).
    Tested Crysis and Dirt 2 - both would lock up in game after about 1min gaming.
    Both games showed before the lockup very good FPS with CFX Off and on CFX On lower FPS compared to v2.91 10.4.
    First lockup was a BSOD in Vantage - so I reduced CPU speed. All other lockups have been screen freezes (while music keeps on playing) - so it should be GPU Overclock related.
    As always I tested with the same settings on CPU and GPU's and always did a clean install following your short instructions.

    Doesn't work. GPU-Z shows no DirectCompute/Opencl support and the Direct Compute Benchmark immidiately crashes when I start it.

    @Hans Dampf

    Yeah, well, found the OC bug here on 10.6 now. Also got the OGL4 working now finally while running hardcore OC'd core with 10.6. Kinda last minute research.The 10.4 is really
    good, but only real explain on differences I see on screen and people here benchmarks or tests with games is that it seems some drivers allows/functions better on different environments than others funny thing is it doesn't seem to matter, if the driver is new
    or old nothing seems to scale exactly correctly through those 4 GPUs.

    Also began to think on hardware detection on games, but just funny since some drivers (while they doesn't work with other drivers same way) works on these titles we tested.
    Most be on driver side.

    @teleguy

    well, no surprise there. as long 'Direct Compute Benchmark' crashes it's sure it ain't there, but well was worth a shot. Funny in a sense ATI says 'too weak' while their own damn drivers allows maximum of 28 cores total to cypress while we tested on 2xHD5970 environment. :)

    @commonly

    There's a bit hold up as had to build an set while I was updating topic. and these damn holidays got to drink & party for a day it seems. So, bottoms up for today.

    Anyway, anyone checking the topic now first time you can for now use: v10.4 + modifications build from earlier topic.

    In all sense I would be interested of building 10.6 I even try'd the earlier 10.6 beta release long time ago, but in every single time as the official 10.6 sucks
    even with an improvement overhead on 10.6 it still sucks, but since I like to be called persistent I actully still built 2 finals to 10.6 baseline one stable
    release based on 10.4 D3D and second stable release based on 10.6 D3D.

    As for 10.4 driver itself I'll be using that on 1 single pack (not needed more 10.4a is so god damn fast driver base it's only issue is to work through
    DirectX 11). As what went down while I was updating I was looking through 10.5a could I figure it out for multiple Display "CFX" setups as in there that
    would be a dream deal in speed & stability average, but this needs 1 day more testing.

    i hope next releases do not contain only the newest and failed 10.6 but you'll continue to support previous drivers, because they are simply better...!!! ;) i really enjoyed 2.91 10.4a:)

    Agree.. though I tried out some games first before owning :nerd:

    I already have a massive collection of non-pirated due to pirating, so don't say it can't be a profit ;)

    BTW ... since the last 5xxx SVN release I have barely used my real Wii eventhough it has an 500GB 2,5" 7200rpm Seagate attached :stewpid:
