I just recently upgraded my system from a 9800GT to a HD5850. I did a proper removal of the nvidia drivers. When I ran 3dmarkVantage v1.02, my gpu score was only at the 8k range. Is it safe to assume this has to do with the current cpu I am using, E7400 @stock thats causing the low gpu score or is there something wrong with my system?
I recommend you test your card with real games as opposed to these artificial rubbish. I've hadn't bothered installing a 3Dmark for at least 4 years...
Your CPU causes a bottleneck. My Sapphire 5850@stock gives me a 13k-14k in 3DMark Vantage 1.02 with my E8400@4Ghz. When i run my VGA at 900/1250, Vantage score increase over 15k. I have seen some ATI 5850@stock runs with a Core I7, I5 o Core Quad Core and the Vantage scores are over 20k. The CPU is the key. Sorry for my bad english.
Yep, I know. I'm planning to upgrade to a i5 soon. After disabling the ppu option in vantage, I got a 13k GPU score.
So much for the rumor that a 5850=5870 performance. I get 16-17k with my 5870 at 850/1200. And I get 19k OC'd to 935/1250.
