Intel silently introduced two new dual-core processors the high-end Core i5 680 and the value-segment Pentium Dual-Core E5500. The first is an LGA1156 chip that runs on Intel P55 H55 H57 Q55 Q57 chipsets... More...
Yeah, soon you'll get six core Phenom for 300$...OMG Dual core can be fast, powerfull, it can have turbo boost, hyper threading and any other possible sh*i, but six core is simply better and it sounds better "Yeah, I got my new dual core cpu!"...LAME "YEAH, I GOT MY NEW SIX CORE CPU!"....:banana::banana:
I find myself asking the same question as when the other i5 dual-core desktop parts came out: What's the point? Even under OEM situations where lots of multi-threaded CPU power is needed it is just so expensive. If a dual-core is all that is needed the most I would consider as a wise choice is an i3 but frankly some of the higher efficiency Core 2/Pentium Dual-Core chips on 775 would be better. Sure you may hit 4.5GHz on air with it, but when you can do 4GHz on air with the quads it just seems rather silly.
Idk, I think Intel is just taking all the defective i5 quads and repackaging them as duals. Why not I suppose.
lol socket 775 is still alive. All of those who have been saying its "a dead socket" 3 years ago are still getting trolled.
