these drivers are fine as long as you dont install the wmv playback thingo (kinda pointless for this thing to be included anyway since you can enable hardware wmv playback in wmp).

aside from that, no stability issues yet, idle temp is slightly higher, but thats because idle clocks are higher to reduce the issues people had with multimonitor setups and desktop flickering with 120hz monitors.

that should be an option in ccc, so that we who don't have a 2d problem wouldn't be affected with it (temps are more then 10c up)

    Hmmm.....

    Performance is top-notch with these.

Seems like ATI is on the ball and working hard to ensure their flagship card STAYS on top!
I also have a little 'inside info' on the 4GB 5970 - it breaks 30K in Vantage with just the single card... but with a pricetag to match!!

Just may have to see if I can get my grubby little paws on one... ;)

The driver version shows as 10.1 (the January 2010 Catalysts)! Are you sure these aren't v8.074 or something? ;)

That's just a registry left by those drivers (10.1) don't pay attention to that.
It has been said a million of times.

Not a pinch of salt required here, more of a flagon of it. 4gb of ram on the 5970 will give it exactly the same problem as the 5870 with 2gb of ram, due to the larger frame buffer creating a small delay and frame rendering. In english, meaning its utterly useless unless your gaming at eyefinity res levels or at 1920x1200 with VERY high levels of AA enabled.

^ I couldn't imagine gaming at anything less than 1920 X 1200 completely maxxed out! But, you're right - overkill for 95% of the gamers out there, it's only the hardcore enthusiasts that would reap the benefits of such a beast!

p.s. - oh, and that other stuff... I don't know what you're all on about.

use the H.264 DXVA implementation in the new ffdshow tryouts builds combined with MPCHC, works like a charme

    That worked!

new FFDSHOW and new MPCHC both fixed my problem with corrupt h.264 video's past 10.3 drivers, thanks!

-edit- Still getting some corruption in some movies, so still not solved the problem 100%

Whats funny is if I re-encode the movie with h.264 it works out fine, so I could just be getting sloppy encodes from other people

It's not. Everything is fine here. 720p and 1080p ... CPU usage around 3%.
