Alright first off I'm already down $85 for getting the internet tech out here and it's clear it's my PC, not the internet or router but let's start off with the problem.

btw i'll be here at like all times refreshing for another few hours because.. i got nothing else to do on this computer and..trying to find all my hardware cds incase it comes down to a full system wipe

Problem: After about 2-5 minutes of being on the internet, the connection "drops" I dissconect from things like games/vent/aim. Then a 30-60 seconds later all works fine again and it reconnects. Has been going on for about a week now, No new programs and no new games either also this never STOPS happening.. it's consent and I can make it d/c by running multiple online things. (For example opening up to vents and having IM open. Which normally would be fine till last week.)

Things i've tried and haven't helped:
    1. Called internet company, got tech out here the line is perfect, I also have a laptop if you run the net through the laptop works perfect, once my computer is on through the modem or router the computer dissconnects and will even lock up the other pc's net that are on the router. So because he thought it was the modem, I had to pay for this new modem even though it didn't help..the bastards.

    2. Ran ALL anti virus and anti spywear programs I had then UNINSTALLED them incase they were the issue. Never found ONE problem they found before uninstalling them no viruses no spywear even. I Ran Avast, Search and Destory, Windows Cleaner, CC Cleaner, HouseCall anti virus. Windows defender. Not ONE THING was found wrong. and I run defrag every Wednesday. Even right now windows firewall his NOW disabled to try to figure out the problem.

Yesterday the problem seemed to have gone... untill today..again. What did I do yesterday that made it so I stoped D/C'n? I removed Search and Destory bot. and suddenly I was staying online, but not perfectly.. I was geting HUGE lag spikes about every usual 2-5 minutes but it wasen't enough to DROP me.. but now it's droping me again today, NOTHING has changed.. NOTHING I am in a serious bind here cause I've run out of ideas. Please someone help me with some ideas to try.. I REALLY want to stop a full system wipe because thats 700gb's of stuff I'm losing with no where to put it.. That and I'd have to find my vista CD which I have no clue where it is.. *sigh* Please help!

Here is my dxdiag just incase it helps anyone figure out my issue.

is it a wireless network ? are you using an onboard network card ? what speed is it connected at on the internal network ? do you have a router ? do you have a modem ?

It is now a built in router/modem from the cable company, like I said they replaced my old router and modem cause they thought that was the issue but it wasen't but they ****ed me over and wouldn't let me take back the new modem/router.
It is an onboard network card, not wireless strait hooked up to the modem, it is connected at the right speed im paying for. god this is so annoying though I need some desperate help cause i cant find my vista! or my vista cd key!

No I mean your Ethernet drivers.

There's not much you can do about high ping (except disable interleaving) - that's in the hands of your ISP and whatever server you are connected to at the time.

Try running a traceroute and look at the hops for any delay.

My guess is that your ISP is taking you for a ride, but ofc I can't say for sure.

Actually run a tracerte then post the results -we could tell you straight away if AT@T is bull****ting you.

Try booting from a Ubuntu live cd ,connect to the network and see if you have the same issues.
If no then nothing is wrong with your computer(i mean hardware)
If yes then your ISP shouls give some answers.

It's not high ping, it's the net droping ONLY when this computer is in use. I can use my laptop, shut down this pc, the internet will be fine. I boot up my PC the droping begins. We tested it with the ISP guy here, it's clearly not the ISP . Also if this PC is even on and on the internet it also drops the laptop's internet, the laptop by itself on this internet and router alone..it has no issues at all no droping no nothing..

as for those drivers I don't know..where can i get better drivers? just whatever came with the mobo..is what i have. it's likes 99% sure it's not the ISP.

I don't know what Ubuntu is but I'll look it up and try to get a cd I guess? but I'm like 99% sure it's not the ISP.

btw should of said this before, I have been using this net for more then 4 years..never had an issue like this before..

There are some nforce ethernet drivers that are causing disconnections for a lot of users that's why I asked which set you were using..

But seeing as you have an Intel chipset......may not be relevant.

    Are you on ADSL?

Do you know how to look in your router for line attenuation etc?

Can you run a traceroute to a server you're having trouble with?

I think it's ADSL honestly not all that sure.. its a brand new DSL modem + Router i'm using right now so i don't know how to do well anything on it really.. my friend brought his tower over todaty and it didn't do anything untill i went on my laptop as well trying to use as much bandwith and it only happened once, what sucks is im also using my computer and it's not doing it at all! figures when he is here it's not to bad, it's only happened once which im curious should that eliminate my computer as the problem even more so?
