I'm just letting the frustration out. Everyday I see overpriced products in the €uro market. I'm now looking for a new laptop. Was interested in the Asus G73JH, which has a great price of $1,549.99. Guess how much it costs over here? 1.589,00€ 1,549.49 USD = 1,127.16 EUR What the hell? The XBOX 360 for example is priced correctly. 299.99 USD=218.225 EUR. It's sold over here for 220€. But thousands of other products are seriously overpriced. So what the hell?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purchasing_power_parity In particular: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PPP2003.svg Goods in Portugal are actually cheaper than in the U.S. But this is not true for most of the EU. - PR-0927
Well it doesn't surprise me that they are more expensive then in the USA but they're not just a bit more expensive, they're WAY more expensive. The laptop in your example for instance, I wouldn't mind having to pay 100 euro more to cover extra expenses but we're not talking about just a 100, it's 300 if not 400 euros more.
Easiest route is just to join us. Next time you guys are planning a vacation just come to the usa and buy some nerd hardware while youre here and take it home. Just dont vacation too long or youll get fat like us. ;-)
Ye it's so damn annoying.. For a rig that I would pay ~800€ on newegg, costs me here more then 1100, if not 1200€..
My CPU from ebuyer was the same price as newegg which I was suprised about, that means minus VAT, ebuyer was actually cheaper.
yeah its stupid i mostly boycot it if its 60 dollar in usa and 60E in eu. and funny thing is they use taxes as an excuse to keep price high instead all that money go's company's that sell it or make it.
I found a 1000 Uganda Shillings yesterday... guess how much it's worth... GUESS. ... Forty-eight cents.
The huge price difference may be because of taxes and shipping or because pure greed. Although like PR-0927 said, in Portugal´s case things are cheaper despite an huge tax of 20% over electronics... By the way, PR-0927 are you portuguese like me???
You're usually getting an a lot better warranty over there too, though, Seketh. In Germany you're getting a two year warranty by law (!), for example: http://www.europakonsument.at/cs/Satellite?pagename=Europakonsument/Artikel/Detail&cid=11820
Lol, same as here. This is VERY expensive. Graphics card that costs 200$ on Newegg can be around 300$ here. All electronics here are expensive
I was under the impression that you guys had to pay a VAT for your 'free' healthcare? Sooo toss a VAT tax onto the Dollar amount and then some extra for regulations.
