I currently am using a nvidia 9800GTX+. Id like to pick up the new Battlefield Bad Compay 2 and a new video card.

Will a Radeon 5770 be enough at HIGH/GOOD settings? Im on a 24" 1920x1200 monitor.

    Any advices/recommendations?

    I'd opt for a HD5850. A HD5770 may not be a big step from your 9800GTX+. A HD5850 should do well in 1920x1200.

If the money isnt a issue, go for the HD5850.

i would go for the 5850 too. if you had a smaller display the 5770 would be adequate.

5850 it is. Should do nicely with my RAID0 SSD setup and some transcoding.

Not trying to bust your bubble but the lowest fps i saw in BC 2 was 25 and the game goes like 15-20 fps for 2-3 seconds then goes normal, also have CS lag when walking (Most of you will probably know what i mean) even when it's 1x AA, 1x AF, vsync/hbao off. But i have the 10.1 drivers installed, maybe 10.2 or the leaked 10.3 will give me better performance. I'm gonna wait until the WHQL 10.3 is released because of the 10.2 my system started to freeze when active or idle.

Maybe DirectX 11 is buggy or the game isn't ATI friendly, really don't know what the cause is though.

5770 is a great card, but can't touch the 5850. Definitely get the 5850.

Are the any test posted yet for the game using a wide variety of cards? Would be interesting to see how the older DX 10 generation cards handle the game.

as far as im aware in benchmarks the ati hd 5770 is no better than ati hd 4870, this might be wrong as benchmark are outdated and new drivers released not to mention the specs are a bit higher on hd5770 than on hd4870 but still i doubt its as good as a 5850

Actually, the 5770 is almost always slower than a 4870 until its heavily overclocked.

Here's a fantastic review which compares the most recent cards in contrast to the $200 offerings from years past. Quite interesting if you ask me.

Just for your own info, I'm running an HD4870 512mb, overclocked to 800/1000 and a q6600 running at 3.4ghz.

    DX10 Mode, maxxed out settings, 2xAA & 8xAF

With fraps running, 95% of the time it's around 50-60 FPS. Occasionally dropping to 30's with heavy action, explosions & smoke. It's very playable, enjoyable and looks way better than no AA at all. With AA off, it's pegged at 60FPS(vsync) no matter the situation.

4xAA it takes a big hit, depending upon the map and players. Sometimes it runs good, but action sequences it drops to 20's.

I'm not sure, but only 512mb memory may be the cause of the AA slow downs.

    5770 is hardely an upgrade. You should look at 5850 / 470 / 5870 / 480 / 5970

I have a very similar spec machine to yours. Q9400 at 3.2Ghz, nForce 750i chipset and 1920x1200. I bought a 5850 for BFBF2 as my 4850 1Gb wasn't cutting it. 5850 has everything on high and runs very smooth.

Get the 5850. They also do lovelly overclocks. My 5850 oc'd is faster than a stock 5870.

you must be having issues, BC2 runs 120+ fps for me with 4xAA 16xAF 1080p in DX11, even 8xAA is no problem but I dont need it in mp... granted I have crossfire but I would expect 1 5850 to at least get 60-80 fps avg at those settings.
