ASUS is showing off their ARES graphics card over at CeBIT. The card is indeed based on a dual-GPU 5970 model. ASUS would use up all available stream processors 2x1600 and then opposed to the 5970 use... More...
Well the only possibly interesting thing about this is if I ever get to read a benchmark/review of two of these in Xfire. Apart from being insane is also worth more money then what i make in a month
I`m wondering who can be crazy enough to buy it. You can buy almost 2x 5970 for the price which is nearly twice as fast!
Sweet I bet that will be amzing to overclock, 1200 on core maybe possible with more phases, decent vrm's and uber cooler. But still probably better getting a normal 5970 and get water cooling lol.
CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler ? Asus did make CPU coolers year ago but it seems that they dont make those anymore... Was somekind of a shock when I noticed that cooler. I wonder why they even included air cooler for that card. Everyone who is going to buy that will use water (minimum) for that card, mostly it's for LN2 overclocking sessions.
Looks like they went wider instead of longer as well. Not as pretty as the original MARS though. Can't wait to see the benches.
Man, Would love to check this out.. Mars was cool because it was 2 gtx 285's.. Nvidia did'nt have quad sli for the 285's back then. That is why it was so interesting. I'm wondering? What's great about two of these cards if you can quadfire 4 5870's? Just a thought. I'm Trying to find a reason to get this, but I cant besides that crazy looking cooler.
There's not much purpose to this one. There was to the special edition GTX 295, as it was something you just couldn't get in one card...but this one, I mean, it's just a 5970 with extra RAM. Guess it would overclock better, but not THAT much better. Though I suspect whoever has two of these will hold the vantage record for a little while.
I see the trend now, whenever Asus make something that's not crappy they charge 1000 Euros for it. I haven't bought anything from those criminals at Asus in an eternity and I'm not going to start any time in the foreseeable future.
