Yeah sort of sucks but i dunno there fews things that had be happening where

    • Near impossible to uninstall display drivers.
Windows Media Player 11 Library Config kept deleteing all my files.
Networking between two windows 7 system was a nightmare.
      Memory Leaks at start up.
      Random Slow Downs.

That was enough for me to change back

I vote 64-bit, no new machine should still run 32-bit except for corporate environments where 64-bit may not make sense.

As for DSK, you can uninstall display drivers easily on Windows 7. It includes a "delete driver software" option unlike in Vista.

    Networking Windows 7, I've got a mixbag network. I got 2 NT 6.1 systems, 1 NT 6.0, 1 NT 5.2, 1 Darwin 9.0 so I'd check your network if I were you.

Microsoft just released a memory leak patch for Windows 7.

Windows Media Player 12 has stopped corrupting files after Beta 2 unless I'm assuming you're forcing Windows Media Player 11 to work on Windows 7...

That's just weird ... Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 works perfectly on my rigs, no issues yet. However, I never said Windows Vista is bad so if you're happy stick with it, you're not missing out much.

The same system didn't have any issues with vista 32 or 64... BUT it did get slow after a few months and I think windows 7 isn't experiencing such performance hits...
It looks better than vista IMO and is faster so I'll stick with it and hope they release a fixes for the problems...

Only issue I have right now in 7, is some of my games don't find any servers.

Like Games for Windows live for some reason can't connect, and any source game can't find any game. Like Team Fortress 2. So, I might go back to Vista once I get my new mobo.

check your firewall, if it looks fine, make sure port 3074 is opened. XBOX Live uses this port.

Hmmm... I've noticed that the RAM allocation system in x64 seems to kind of suck...

For example, I'll run an install, and the RAM usage will go up to ~95%, but only go down to ~85% after the install is done, and will NOT go down until I restart, thus clearing the cache.

This causes my rig to run MUCH slower than it should.

People always complain that RAM usage is much higher in Vista and Windows 7.

Well yes, because Memory Management was improved.

Why have say 6GB of RAM, and only use 2GB. It's a waste of RAM.

Why not use 5GB of RAM, or 5.5GB of RAM improving the speed of the programs, and when something new comes along that needs RAM, it scales back the others and balances out RAM for better performance.

It's DESIGNED to use more RAM, because you may as well use it.

If your Rig is slowing down, it's because of other things, not RAM Management.

There is no point in looking at RAM to see if Resources are staying down, because Windows now uses it if it's there.

Dude, I mean when I have NO processes running. Windows shouldn't be using up tons of RAM if I'm not doing anything...

You can't have NO processes running.

The system still has to run, Windows and all it's services and other program services.

Why limit the RAM? The more info it can put into the RAM, the less the hard drive has to work and the quicker it will be.

Unix has always worked like this, and it's only recently MS have started to improve memory management.

That's why Unix servers rarely have issues and can handle such high loads, because it's very very good with Memory Management.

Well, yes, it's impossible to have no processes running unless the computer is off. xD

I'm not saying that the RAM should be limited in any way, but the allocation method should be better so that once the process using ~3GB of RAM ends, the RAM is free once again.

Well the more programs you use it scales and gives more to certain programs and takes away from others.

I think it does it very good now. It's how it should be. RAM should always be used, and just used between the programs it needs.

I've never had a problem with it personally.

Right i'm back on seven i think my last install maybe was corrupt or something as everything works on this install without a problem.

All Good in the Hood :)
