Are you wanting to game, watch movies, or just surf net? What size and type (lcd or crt) monitor do you use? What screen resolution are you planning to use? How long do you want this card to last before you upgrade again? Vga, Dvi, or Hdmi connections?
I have an old Crt (Gateway EV700) but i'm thinking of getting a refurbished 23" lcd( LG W2361VG-PF 23-inch LCD HD 1080p) for gaming(though i don't play Crysis lvl games, i do like to be able to try out the online mmprpgs that have fairly high specs) and movies (netflix streaming, hulu, etc). i generally dont replace until the upgrade is several multiples of what i have..ie 4x better than what i have now. i tend to use a low resolution, 1024x768x32, but if the game works better and i have the muscle i would go to higher res. does monitor resolution matter when using netflix, hulu?
I don't think that resolution plays a huge roll in movie watching (at least in my opinon). It doesn't sound like you'll need any KingKongMegaMega hardware to do what you're wanting. Dx11 card looks fine. To OP, yes, you will have to connect a power cable to the card if it has a 6 or 8 pin socket/s. Before buying anything, open the pc up and check the motherboard has a 16x pci-e slot for gfx and also check the power-supply has the neccessary power cable to hook up the gfx card. It will not work properly without it. Report back with power-supply wattage.
i dont see a wire coming off the power supply...i saw maximum output 365 W. does that help? i saw 2 pci slots and on slot that is longer than those...i figure that is the pcie x16 slot found in the specs of the ad.

If it doesn't have a 4 or 6 pin adapter for a vidcard, you can buy one or get a card that comes with one. You can also buy a card that doesn't require one. I just don't think you're going to find many higher end cards that are going to play nice with it. ^The Zotac 9800GT ECO only requires the 75W supplied by your motherboards PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot (Assuming it has one) The idea behind the ECO edition is it's low power with no extra power connection needed. Ideal for a PSU that doesn't have a PCI-E power lead.

Just a thought......Are you sure that the m/b has PCIe slot? I did not see it mentioned in the specs.In fact I don't recall it mentioning the type or model m/b at all. Maybe I over looked it.
it has one long black slot, pcie x16, and 2 smaller white slots which i think are pcie... how do i find out what the MB is ..preferably from inside widows xp..i can only squint so much. :nerd:
