I have a computer that has 2x512mb and I'm thinking of adding an extra 2 gigs to fill the remaining two slots. So it would be something like this:-

    2 x 512mb
    2 x 1gb

Now the question is could I run into any problems with this setup?

Make sure you put them in alternate dimms so you keep dual-channel.

Your RAM dimms should have two colours. Keep the 512mb ones in one colour slot, and the 1gb ones in the other.

If they aren't coloured, you can see it in the motherboard's manual. That way, they'd run dual-channel.
