I think the egg thing is awesome. Though i don't particularly like the sleeping nook. Maybe a floor, with a bed built in, that has a hard collapsible cover over it. These would be really good for emergency situations, but would be better if made in a square shape. Either way i wouldn't mind one, i'd probably turn it into a sauna. Edit: Old shipping containers also work really well. I made some really elaborate houses in Garry's mod using those big blue dumpsters and those big read shipping containers.
I can imagine someone rolling it over at night. I would not sleep on that shelf. It doesn't look comfortable at all.
