Currently I have a 3 year old computer.. been through alot for a homebrew:
    MOBO: MSI P6N SLI Platinum
    CPU: Core2Duo E6600
    RAM: 8GB old corsair ram
    GPU's: 2 MSI NX8800 GTS's OC version
w/ windows vista .. and my 10k raptor failed a month back so 7200 western digital ATM.

anyways this is what i have so far for the best I can come up with at a fair price ->

CPU: Bloomfield 2.66 GHz core i7-920 lga 1366 quad 130 watt
    MOBO: EVGA E758 3way-sli LGA 1366 x58
    RAM: Corsair Dominator 6gb (3x2g) triple channel DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
Video: MSI N260GTX Twin FroZr OC Geforce GTX 260 896MB GDDR3

Thank you ahead of time if you can give me some contructive critisism ... I havent been in the game for a while, but I'd like to get the best bang for my buck! have a great 2010.

If you only game, it would make more sense to go for an AMD Quad build and get a better video card, like the 5850 or 5870. Phenoms bench almost the same in games vs i7. You'll be fine with either CPU so it makes more sense to get a beefier GPU.

So say I stayed with the i7-920 and go the HD5850 ... would it be worth much more to crossfire another HD5850 or go with the 5870 .. also this motherboard as a correction - ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard , to save a few bucks.. I have been out of it for so long, so many new gadgets , gollygee .. thanks for the info

    <---- My specs

Why SLI?... I have a MSI 260GTX Twin Frozr OC, and it handles everything I throw at it. I have a 22" Acer w/ a native resolution of 1680 x 1050. So... Unless you are going to be running at super high resolutions (ie. 1900 x 1200) I don't see the point in going SLI.

As far as CPU's go... You might check out a Q9550. They are a BEAST of an overclocker, and on relatively low volts at that.

check out the last wishlist i posted, it's got the new layout.. I decided to go with the cheaper 5850 , and when il order another 5850 for crossfire next, its very economic and leaves me open to future ups , although I have only used ATI in laptops.. and in my wii :D
