    And "this" is what ?

If it's the futurmark thing, it's just an average of the lowest scores. You can't say anything from these numbers.

    A 5870 @ stock will do 17k GPU score with 9.12.

Futuremark benchies are a quite dum way to compare performance as it doesnt show real life application at all. For an example, a GFX card that does well in Vantage, will not necessarily be better in some games just because it gets higher scores in vantage. So only way to measure strength and performance is mostly with real games.

you gotta keep in mind that a stock 5970 is aprox equivalent to 2x 5850's, not 5870's. Cause it is clocked down to meet PCIe power requirements. when overclocking it up to 5870 and higher speeds, it increases a decent amount.

w/ an i7 920 @ 4-4.3GHz, and the 5970 @ 900/1200MHz you get between 26000-28000 for the GPU score. Scaling isn't too great, but it's better then the graph you made shows.

That's not too true either, cause its hit or miss with games. Depending on which side (nvidia/ati) spends more time optimizing for that particular game.

if you notice, when ati releases new drivers, they usually state an increase in 3dmark/vantage... cause they probably spend some time optimizing the drivers for it, cause they know lots of people use that as a measure of being good.

I play a MMO called Darkfall, which isn't too popular at all. ATI or Nvidia probably don't even know what that game is... So I'd never expect to see any fixes in either of their driver release notes.

Or just a good old Quad since I get around 27k GPU man all this i7 hype is silly when it comes to games :3eyes:

Only reason I mentioned CPU is cause CPU speed actually affects the GPU score. And I happen to have an i7. So I used that as a reference.

underclock your cpu to 2-3GHz, and check your score. you'll see what I mean.

I'm impatient! But ATI will most likely break more things than they fix trying to get these new rumoured features in the drivers. It's what they do best.

Tell me about it, thts why I think there should be a total feature freeze and nothing but optimizing and fixing for the next 5 months.

I bet it will be delayed... they normally release a new batch in the middle or towards the end of the month. Yes CES is just around the corner so maybe just maybe they might have something.

Yes we should start a petition up for ATI to put in per game profiles into their drivers and fix Vsync bugs for xfire configs. How can we do this?

Only way you can make the ATi driver team notice these issues is to use the Catalyst Crew Feedback form at http://game.amd.com ... or I think you can drive up here to Toronto and go to their Markham office (I live quite near it surprisingly lol).

ATI releases Beta's only if they contain major fixes worthy of a release. Be patient!

Sometimes we have good ol Rflair supply us with beta's.
